Afghanistan
Permitted terrorist organization (Permitted by Russia)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] Russia has officially recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Earlier, the Taliban was removed from the list of terrorist organizations.
Here’s hoping that doesn’t bite y’all really hard in the backside.
The Taliban have fulfilled most of Russia's wishes since 2021 ("they are cutting down the blacks", reducing poppy crops, and not interfering with Central Asia. Yes, women are still oppressed and their government is far from inclusive, but overall, they demonstrate adequacy and constructiveness. The Taliban committed their last terrorist attacks back in 2021 against the occupation forces and the puppet regime of Ashraf Ghani.

Unofficially, the Russian Federation has long recognized the Taliban and actively maintained contacts with them since 2021-2022, despite the fact that the Taliban were considered terrorists by us for several years after their victory. For several years now, Afghanistan has been receiving fuel and grain from Russia. It is expected that Russia's trade turnover with Afghanistan will expand.

The Taliban can be wished that they have more adequate factions at the helm and that they do not allow a new civil war in Afghanistan. And they continued to sell drugs.

Ethiopia declares completion of disputed mega-dam
[RT] Ethiopia has announced the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a multibillion-dollar hydropower project on the Blue Nile that has been the focus of a decade-long dispute with Egypt and Sudan. The dam will be formally inaugurated in September, the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Under construction since 2011, the GERD is designed to generate up to 5.15 gigawatts of electricity, making it the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa. While Ethiopia presents the project as a transformative energy source for the region, Egypt and Sudan have repeatedly raised concerns over its impact on downstream water flows.

...Amid ongoing disagreement over water rights, Ethiopia has pushed forward with a regional water governance framework. In October, Prime Minister Abiy confirmed the implementation of the Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA), a treaty designed to establish a permanent Nile River Basin Commission (NRBC) among upstream nations. The treaty has been signed by upstream countries including Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Burundi, with South Sudan joining in 2012.

While the treaty moved closer to activation after South Sudan’s parliament ratified it in July, Egypt and Sudan have rejected the accord. Both governments called it an "incomplete" document that is not "representative of the Nile Basin as a whole."

Egypt has warned that even a modest reduction of just 2% in its Nile water supply could lead to the loss of around 200,000 acres of farmland, posing a serious threat to national food security. Sudan has voiced similar fears, citing the river’s vital role in its agriculture sector.
There is G*d!

Fragile peace in Eastern DRC as M23 reacts cautiously to Kinshasa-Kigali acccord
[AFRICANEWS] In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
, hopes for lasting peace remain fragile amid ongoing violence and stalled negotiations. The M23 rebel group, which controls significant territory in North Kivu, responded cautiously to a June 27 peace agreement signed in Washington between Kinshasa and Kigali. The deal aims to end hostilities and uphold territorial integrity, but M23 sees it as irrelevant.

''These are matters of state-level agreements... We don't even know what was agreed in that accord,'' said Benjamin Mbonimpa, Executive Secretary of AFC/M23.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
fighting continues across North and South Kivu, where Wazalendo militias allied with the Congolese army clash regularly with M23 forces. Peace talks launched in April in Doha between M23 and the Congolese government have stalled.

''AFC/M23 is engaged in peace talks. We believe in Doha, we believe in peace,'' Mbonimpa stated. ''We never wanted war; it was imposed on us.''

In Goma, under M23 control since late January, civilians express fatigue and uncertainty.

''We've heard of the talks in Doha, but nothing has changed,'' said local resident Kasereka Amani. ''They've never told us if M23 will leave.''

''All we want is peace,'' added Justin Buwili. ''But every time peace is discussed, fighting gets worse.''

Despite the impasse, M23 says it is preparing to send a new delegation to Doha in an effort to restart dialogue. Congolese officials say negotiations remain their preferred solution, though the rebels continue to accuse Kinshasa of blocking meaningful progress.

Report: Hamas officials abroad told to hand over weapons as symbolic nod to Israeli demand for disarmament
[IsraelTimes] Senior Hamas officials abroad have been told to hand in their personal weapons amid negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the remaining Israeli hostages, the Times newspaper reports.

The directive came from Qatari mediators, the Times reports, and is largely a symbolic initiative and a nod to Israel’s demand for Hamas’s disarmament, which the terror group has thus far rejected.
”Here you are, effendi: a beautiful antique gun from the Emir of Qatar’s personal collection. You will walk up to him, bow deeply, then hand him the gun and say ‘I give you this gun to make peace with Israel.’ Then bow again, take three steps back and line up with the others on the left to await his response.”
It says that among the senior Hamas officials instructed to hand over their weapons are lead negotiator and senior politburo official Khalil al-Hayya; the Istanbul-based leader of Hamas in the West Bank, Zaher Jabarin; and the chair of Hamas’s Shura Council, Muhammad Ismail Darwish.

The report comes as Hamas is reviewing the latest ceasefire proposal, and as mediators and Israel await its response. Earlier today, a Saudi report suggested that Hamas was satisfied with the framework of the deal and would submit its response by Friday.

Britain
Former UK Labour leader Corbyn, ousted over antisemitism, to found new party
Welcome to Britains’s New Left party — all Jew-hate all the time. And socialism, gooder and harder.
[IsraelTimes] Jeremy Corbyn says Starmer’s government has ‘refused to deliver the change’; lawmaker who supported Palestinian violence says she’ll join him in new left-wing party

Former UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn announced on Friday he was in talks to start a new political party because Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government had "refused to deliver the change" that voters expected during its first year in office.

Labour suspended Corbyn in 2020 and then kicked him out of the party following a report into how antisemitism complaints were handled under his leadership, which he refused to fully accept.

"The democratic foundation of a new kind of political party will take shape soon," Corbyn said on X. "Discussions are ongoing — and I am excited to work alongside all communities to fight for the future people deserve."

The announcement that Labour could face a new threat from a left-wing party came after a bruising week for the government when it was forced to abandon key planks of planned welfare reform, which blew a hole in its budget plans.

Since winning the general election last year, Starmer has seen his personal popularity slump, and Labour now consistently trails the hard boy, right-wing Reform UK party, which is led by Nigel Farage, the pro-Brexit campaigner.

Corbyn, who was elected an independent member of parliament last year, said the "Labour government has refused to deliver the change people expected and deserved."

"Poverty, inequality and war are not inevitable," he said. "Our country needs to change direction, now."

On Thursday evening, politician Zarah Sultana said she was leaving Labour and planned to launch the new party with Corbyn.

In since-deleted social media posts from 2015, Sultana said she would celebrate the deaths of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, former US President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She also wrote that she supports "violent mostly peaceful resistance" by Paleostinians and that Zionism is a racist ideology.

A landmark October 2020 report by the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission ruled that Labour under Corbyn had broken the law in its "inexcusable" handling of complaints about antisemitism.

The period saw Jewish members and politicians leave the party in droves as criticism of Israel and Zionism veered into toxic antisemitism from Corbyn supporters.

The party suspended Corbyn in 2020 after he claimed opponents had "dramatically overstated" the scale of antisemitism in Labour for "political reasons." He had represented Labour in parliament since 1983 and now sits as an independent politician.

‘Israelis not welcome’: Milan Jews rattled by surge in antisemitic incidents
Odds are good it was done by some poor shmoe paid by Iran to stir up trouble, just like the Jewish and Arab idiots they’ve been rounding up in Israel.
[IsraelTimes] Anti-Jewish hate crimes in Italy nearly doubled in 2024, watchdog finds — but the local community says it still receives significant support from the wider Italian society

On June 26, Afshin Kaboli woke up to a flood of WhatsApp messages from personal contacts and group chats with fellow members of Milan’s Jewish community.

During the night, unknown individuals had put up dozens of posters around the city’s Jewish neighborhoods reading, in broken English, "Israeli not welcome." Some were hung a few hundred yards from the community’s Jewish school on the same block where Kaboli, 54, lives and runs a kosher bakery.

"I went to check and found the posters in two spots in the neighborhood, even though, by the time I arrived, some of them had already been removed," Kaboli told The Times of Israel via telephone.

"It made me feel awful," he said. "The atmosphere has been heavy these past few months. But finding something like this just 200 meters [650 feet] from my home really makes me think. I always thought these things happened in La Belle France or other countries, not in Milan."

The city is home to a community of about 7,000 Jews. Despite its small size, the community boasts at least a dozen active synagogues, three Jewish schools, and several kosher restaurants and grocery stores.

For Kaboli, the fact that the posters were directed at "Israelis," as opposed to Jews, does not make a difference.

"They say Israeli, but they mean Jews and everyone who does not dissociate themselves from what happens in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
," he said. "We are all included, and in my case, even more so since my wife is Israeli."

The posters are just the latest in a series of episodes that have been making Milanese Jews increasingly uncomfortable.

The previous week, two Jewish teens aged 17 and 15, one of them openly wearing a kippah, the other a baseball cap, were attacked, beaten, and robbed by three aggressors, all underage, of Egyptian origin.

A few weeks earlier, a Jewish man was attacked by two men after they spotted him wearing a Star of David necklace. In May, a crafts store in an elegant street in the city center put up a sign in Italian reading, "Zionists and Israelis are not welcome."

According to the president of the community, Walker Meghnagi, 75, local Jews are concerned, but they do not live in fear.

"I would say that the sentiment among community members is one of surprise and concern for what has been happening, but not fear," Meghnagi told The Times of Israel.

Meghnagi also said the distinction between attacking Jews and attacking the Jewish state is ultimately irrelevant.

"Diaspora Jews must stand with Israel," he said. "Some might not like the government, but Israel is not the government — Israel is the Land. People use this against us, but in the end, it’s just an excuse."

"We are Italians of the Jewish religion, and we must keep our heads high and be respected for what we are," he added.

The most recent report by the Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea (CDEC), a Milan-based think tank that monitors antisemitism in Italia, revealed that in 2024, its antisemitism watchdog received 877 complaints about antisemitic incidents in the country, compared to 454 in 2023 and 241 in 2022.

The recorded incidents included physical aggression against people, antisemitic graffiti, and threats or insults on social media.

In addition to what was reported to the CDEC by the public, its staff also independently documented some 4,000 instances of antisemitic discourse online.

A SUPPORTIVE GOVERNMENT
According to Meghnagi, Italian police are doing an excellent job in protecting Jewish sites.

"We have the best police in Europe, they are everywhere and act very fast," he said. "All the synagogues, Jewish sites, and schools are under constant protection."

Officers informed Meghnagi that the posters had been put up by a small group of Italian youths.

"However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
in light of the complexity of the operation, they must have had some external funding and backing," he said.

Meghnagi also praised the current Italian government.

"The government is pro-Israel and very active in defending the Jewish community," he said.

When Giorgia Meloni became Italia’s first female prime minister in 2022, her government was met with suspicion both at home and abroad due to the fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
roots of her party, Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italia).

Fratelli d’Italia is the political heir to the openly fascist party founded in post-World War II Italia. Meloni — along with several of her close associates — has made statements in the past that were seen as sympathetic to fascist ideology. Three years later, however, Meloni is mainly viewed as a staunchly conservative leader within the mainstream consensus, working closely with European allies as well as the Trump administration.

On the other hand, Meghnagi criticized left-wing political forces in Italia, whose actions or silence he blames for the current political climate.

In the past six months, Milan Mayor Beppe Sala declined when urged to light up the municipality building to commemorate Kfir and Ariel Bibas, the young children taken hostage and murdered by Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
, but agreed to do so in solidarity with Gaza.

Last month, three Italian regions — Puglia, Emilia-Romagna, and Tuscany— announced they would sever ties with Israeli authorities. In a separate incident, the city of Sesto Fiorentino, with a population of 50,000, decided that its municipal pharmacies would no longer sell Israeli-made medicines and cosmetics.

All the local government representatives in these incidents belong to left or center-left parties.

"Those politicians do have an impact on at least part of the public opinion, especially those who are less informed about the situation," said Meghnagi. "This is harmful and absurd."

’BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE’
Emanuele Fiano has made it his life’s mission to cultivate a relationship with those on style:dotted;border-bottom-color:gray;' title='Italy'>Italia’s left and educate them about antisemitism and Israel.

The son of an Auschwitz survivor, the 62-year-old Fiano is a former president of Milan’s Jewish Community and a former Member of Parliament for the Partito Democratico (PD), Italia’s largest center-left party. He has been living under police protection for 15 years, largely due to the antisemitic threats he receives.

Today, he serves as the secretary of Sinistra per Israele (Left-wing for Israel), a group established in the aftermath of the Six-Day War after a political shift against Israel among left-wing parties.

Fiano believes it is essential to distinguish between antisemitism and other forms of anti-Israel sentiment.

"I’m deeply concerned about three things: the rise in antisemitism, the misuse of the accusation itself, and the increasingly complex overlap — even for experts — between antisemitism, anti-Israel sentiment, and anti-Zionism," he told The Times of Israel.

Fiano said that while episodes of discrimination and hatred against Israelis were horrible and wrong, they should not be confused with antisemitism.

"I believe that discriminating against Israelis — something that isn’t done to Russians, Iranians, or others — is a terrible form of racism and hatred," he said. "But I’d be cautious about saying it means these people hate all Jews."

Fiano mentioned how, on June 14, representatives of the Jewish LGBTQ group Keshet Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
were insulted and threatened while participating in the Rome Pride parade with their rainbow flags featuring a Star of David.

"The Star of David has been a Jewish symbol for centuries," he said. "If a Star of David triggers insults and hatred, this is antisemitism."

Fiano explained that he faces criticism both from the left and those who want to condemn Israel "without any ifs, ands, or buts," as well as from some in the Jewish community because he is critical of the Netanyahu government.

"I feel caught between a rock and a hard place, and I’m exhausted," he said. "Still, I believe the work we’re doing matters — and it’s bringing some results."

Fiano recalled, for instance, how the Coop Italia supermarket chain — which last month announced plans to stop selling Israeli products — reversed its decision after Sinistra per Israele intervened, arguing that boycotting an entire country was wrong.

A SHOW OF SOLIDARITY
Despite the challenges, Meghnagi and Kaboli emphasized that the June 26 poster incident was followed by expressions of solidarity.

"The city reacted in an exemplary way," Meghnagi said. "Many, including people who are not members of our community, worked to take down the posters."

Kaboli, who, in addition to running the bakery, also owns the Denzel burger house — one of the city’s most popular kosher restaurants, drawing a vast Jewish and non-Jewish clientele — said that many people reached out to him.

"One thing that I felt good about was that when I shared photos of the posters on Facebook, many people outside the Jewish community responded — not just with comments, but also with messages and calls expressing their shock and dismay at seeing this kind of behavior in Milan," Kaboli said.

Still, some concerns remain.

"Until recently, people in the community felt Milan was safe," Kaboli said. "I send my 5-year-old son to the Jewish school. I would never consider doing otherwise, but we need to remain vigilant more than ever."

Sources say UBS, Goldman Sachs refused GHF requests to set up Swiss accounts
This is where a rich Zionist sets up a private bank to handle such things, just like the Trumps are setting up a crypto thing because apparently myriads of Trumpsters and other unfashionables were debanked during the Biden Politburo era. Come to think of it, if the Trump thing is already up, that should be an option for GHF, too.
[IsraelTimes] UBS declined a request by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to open a bank account in Switzerland, while Goldman Sachs did not set up a Swiss account for GHF after initial talks, two people with knowledge of the discussions tell Reuters.

GHF is a US- and Israeli-backed organization that began delivering humanitarian supplies to Palestinian civilians in Gaza in May, bypassing traditional aid channels, including the United Nations.

GHF had sought to open a bank account for a unit based in Geneva to help facilitate donations from outside the United States, two other people with knowledge of its plans say.

The foundation started talks with lawyers and banks, including UBS and Goldman, last autumn about the Swiss entity’s structure, before deciding to withdraw from Switzerland in May, they say.

The two people decline to say which other banks GHF had engaged with, and Reuters cannot establish that information independently. GHF did not respond to questions about whether it had spoken to other banks.

According to two of the people, the foundation’s plans for a Geneva branch faced setbacks, including a lack of donations and resignations of founding members, including GHF executive director Jake Wood, as well as difficulties opening a Swiss bank account.

A GHF spokesperson tells Reuters by email that the decision to withdraw from Switzerland was not because of any setbacks, adding: “It was a strategic decision to be located in the US.”

One stumbling block in talks with banks was a lack of transparency about where the foundation’s funds would come from, one of the people with knowledge of the discussions tells Reuters. Before accepting clients, banks must conduct due diligence to establish their identities and ownership, the nature of their business activities, and their sources of wealth.

GHF has not disclosed details of its finances. A GHF spokesperson says it has “spoken about initial funding from Europe, but we don’t disclose donors for their privacy.”

Nearly 1/3 of New York voters support Mamdani’s statements on BDS, intifada — poll
[IsraelTimes] A poll finds that 30% of New York City voters support statements about the anti-Israel boycott movement and the phrase “globalize the intifada” by Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic party nominee for mayor.

Mamdani is a longtime supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel.

During his campaign for the mayoral primary, he repeatedly refused to condemn and defended the phrase “globalize the intifada.”

A survey by the American Pulse polling firm asks New Yorkers about Mamdani’s backing for BDS and his refusal to “condemn the phrase ‘globalize the intifada,’ which some interpret as a call to violence against Jews.”

“Does knowing this make you more or less likely to vote for Mamdani?” the survey asks.

For all respondents, 30% say they are more likely to vote for Mamdani due to those statements, and 52% are less likely.

Among voters aged 18-44, 46% say they are more likely to vote for Mamdani due to his support for BDS and statements on an intifada.

Women are more opposed to the rhetoric than men.

The survey’s sample size is 568, and its margin of error is 4%.

US reportedly cancels probe into pro-Qatari lobbyist and Qatargate suspect Footlik
It looks awfully byzantine…
[IsraelTimes] Israeli officials involved in investigation said to be left in dark over why it was nixed, though suspect it may have to do with ongoing efforts with Doha to reach hostage deal

The US Department of Justice has canceled a judicial inquiry into pro-Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i American lobbyist Jay Footlik, who is suspected of directly financing Qatargate suspect Jonatan Urich’s alleged activities, Hebrew media reported Thursday.

The inquiry was to take place in the US in coordination with the Israel Police, and was expected to bring Sherlocks and prosecuting attorneys one step closer to deciding whether or not to indict Urich, a close aide of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who is suspected of being paid to boost Qatar’s image while in his employ.

According to i24 news, however, the US Justice Department informed Footlik Thursday that it had cancelled the July 9 inquiry, without offering any explanation as to why.

Israeli officials involved in the investigation have also been left in the dark as to why it was canceled, Hebrew media outlet Ynet reported.

They suspect, however, that it may be due to the personal and political considerations of US President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
, i24 said, as both Qatar and the US are major players in the efforts to forge a ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
Urich, together with Netanyahu’s former military affairs spokesperson Eli Feldstein, is suspected of multiple offenses tied to their alleged work for a pro-Qatar lobbying firm. They are suspected of contact with a foreign agent and breach of trust, due to what prosecutors believe was their work to improve Doha’s image as a hostage negotiation mediator while simultaneously working as advisers to Netanyahu.

The investigation has broadened, and several former security bigshots are suspected of involvement in helping transfer money from Doha to Urich and Feldstein.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara indicated last month that she would soon file an indictment against Urich.

i24 also reported that Baharav-Miara will request that Serbia extradite Yisrael Einhorn, a former Netanyahu aide who is also involved in the affair due to his public relations firm Perception, which he ran alongside Urich.

India mulls $230m drone incentive after Pakistan conflict: sources
[GEO.TV] India will launch a $234 million incentive programme for civil and military drone makers to reduce their reliance on imported components and counter rival Pakistain's programme built on support from China and Turkiye, three sources told Rooters.

India's push to build more home-grown drones stems from its assessment of the four-day clash with Pakistain in May that marked the first time New Delhi and Islamabad utilised unmanned aerial vehicles at scale against each other.

New Delhi will launch a 20 billion Indian rupees ($234 million) programme for three years that will cover manufacture of drones, components, software, counter drone systems, and services, two government and one industry source, who did not want to be named, told Rooters.

Details of the programme have not been previously reported and its planned expenditure is higher than the modest 1.2 billion rupees production-linked incentive scheme New Delhi launched in 2021 to promote drone start-ups, which have struggled to raise capital and invest in research.

India's civil aviation ministry, which is leading the incentives programme, and defence ministry did not immediately respond to e-mails seeking comment.

Rooters previously reported that India plans to invest heavily in local industry and could spend as much as $470 million on unmanned aerial vehicles over the next 12 to 24 months, in what government and military officers said would be a staggered approach.

In the past, India has mainly imported military drones from its third-largest arms supplier, Israel, but in recent years its nascent drone industry has scaled up its cost-effective offerings, including for the military, although reliance on China continues for certain components such as motors, sensors and imaging systems.

If India wants more action against terrorists, it must hold talks with Pakistan: Bilawal
[GEO.TV] Pakistain People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that if India truly wants more action against terrorists, it must engage in dialogue with Pakistain to resolve bilateral issues.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Bilawal — who led Pakistain's diplomatic mission to Western nations to counter New Delhi's narrative post the May war — said India is attempting to establish a ''new normal'' in South Asia — a stance he termed as neither in Pakistain's nor India's interest.

He stressed that the future of 1.7 billion people cannot be handed over to non-state actors, criticising India for not sharing evidence of terrorist attacks with its own people, Pakistain, or the international community. ''India has faced fewer terrorism incidents compared to Pakistain,'' he noted.

Bilawal reaffirmed Pakistain's historical stance that Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
is an integral part of Pakistain, a position consistent since the time of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He further stated that Moslems in India face systemic discrimination. ''Any Moslem who speaks up for their rights is branded a terrorist,'' he said, adding that the same approach is used against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

Bilawal emphasised that Pakistain has actively fought terrorism. ''If India wants further action against terrorists, it should talk to Pakistain to find a solution,'' he reiterated. He also mentioned Pakistain's concerns about India's involvement in acts of terrorism targeting Pakistain.

Addressing a longstanding narrative, Bilawal clarified that while Pakistain historically supported certain groups during the 1980s concerning Afghanistan, it has never backed such groups in the context of Kashmir. ''Pakistain supports the Kashmiris' right to self-determination under UN resolutions, which is not terrorism,'' he concluded.

His comments came in the wake of recent tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours after India accused Pakistain of involvement in the killing of 26 civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) earlier this year — an allegation Islamabad has strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!

Netanyahu, IDF chief said to clash in stormy meeting over plans for Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir are said to have clashed at a stormy meeting between security chiefs and senior ministers last night over future military plans for the Gaza Strip.

According to quotes from the closed-door meeting reported by Channel 12, Netanyahu ordered Zamir to prepare a plan to relocate the vast majority of the population to southern Gaza.

“Do you want a military government? Who will govern two million people?” Zamir reportedly asks.

“IDF and the State of Israel,” Netanyahu is said to have raised his voice and shouted at Zamir. “I don’t want a military government, but I’m not willing to leave Hamas behind in any way. I won’t allow this.”

Netanyahu says the alternative to the evacuation plan was to capture the entire Strip, including areas the IDF has not operated in until now for fear of harming the hostages.

“The alternative to evacuation to the south is to run over the whole Strip and capture all of it, and that means killing the hostages which I don’t want and not prepared to do,” the report quotes him as saying.

Zamir retorts to Netanyahu that such a plan could lead to a loss of control.

“We need to talk about this, we have not agreed to this. To control these people who are hungry and angry could lead to a loss of control and as a result of that loss of control they could turn on the IDF, ” Zamir warns.

Netanyahu dismisses his concern: “Prepare an evacuation plan – I want to see it when I return from Washington.”

Coming out against Netanyahu’s prosecution of the war, Vilnai writes that further fighting "risks the lives of hostages, will continue to cost yet more IDF casualties and prolong the suffering of innocent Paleostinians."

High Court freezes IDF order to demolish 104 buildings in West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp
[IsraelTimes] The High Court of Justice freezes a military order to demolish 104 civilian buildings, including some 400 housing units, in the Tulkarem refugee camp in the West Bank.

The residential buildings are home to approximately 2,000 Palestinians, the Adalah civil rights organization says.

According to Adalah, the IDF claimed the demolitions were needed for “military-operational purposes,” although it did not provide evidence for the claim.

In response to Adalah’s legal challenge to the demolitions, the IDF cited general concerns about “terror infrastructure” and “security needs.”

The court issued an interim injunction on Wednesday, freezing the demolition orders, and gave the state until September 2 to submit a detailed response to Adalah’s petition.

“The interim decision marks a rare acknowledgment by the court of the severity of the demolition orders and the urgent need to give the affected families a meaningful opportunity to defend their right to remain in their homes,” says Adalah’s legal director, Dr. Suhad Bishara.

“As Adalah argued in the petition, over the past year, the Supreme Court has repeatedly approved mass demolitions—endorsing acts that amount to grave breaches of international law—and has handed the military near-blanket authority to issue and implement sweeping demolition orders without due process,” Adalah says. “To fulfill its legal obligations, the Court must go beyond temporary injunctions and strike down these unlawful orders outright.”

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Katz, Zamir Hail War Against Iran As ‘Defining Milestone' In Israel's History
[IsraelTimes] Defense Minister Israel Katz and Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Friday praised Israel’s achievements during the conflict with Iran, saying the war represented a historic turning point in Israel’s defense against Tehran’s most dangerous threats.

The two released separate statements one day after a joint situational assessment on the matter, with Katz hailing the 12-day conflict as a strategic triumph, saying, “The IDF achieved remarkable successes in thwarting Iran’s nuclear program and missile production system — the two threats that posed the greatest danger to Israel.”

He added: “The IDF must prepare both intelligence-wise and operationally to ensure air superiority over Tehran and to prevent Iran from rebuilding its capabilities.”

#1  “The IDF must prepare both intelligence-wise and operationally to ensure air superiority over Tehran and to prevent Iran from rebuilding its capabilities.”

This policy goal would clash with the US sponsored and guaranteed ceasefire.

Maybe Israel gets accorded some leeway as Iran's continuing asymmetrical and proxy war technically also violates the ceasefire.

#2  They’re right. The war is not over, when Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran itself are already working to rearm so they can resume. What Israel has accomplished thus far is astounding, especially given that she was hobbled by concerned enemies beyond the immediate battlefields, by equally and similarly concerned friends, and by a loud contingent of her citizens demanding she give Hamas anything to get the hostages back, including some within the military establishment. But this is only the eye of the storm.

All three parties will break their truces as soon as they are ready to resume, so hopefully President Trump understands that, and underneath the surface bluster he and Bibi are plotting nefarious deeds once again.

Syria willing to work with US on return to 1974 disengagement deal with Israel
[IsraelTimes] Statement by Syrian FM comes as Washington seeks Syria-Israel normalization; accord created UN-patrolled buffer zone, which Israel seized following ouster of Assad in December

Syria said Friday that it was willing to cooperate with Washington to reimplement the 1974 disengagement agreement with Israel, which created a UN-patrolled buffer zone separating the two countries’ forces.

In a statement following a phone call with his US counterpart Marco Rubio
...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida, Secretary of State in the second Trump administration...
, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani expressed Syria’s "aspiration to cooperate with the United States to return to the 1974 disengagement agreement."

Washington has been pushing diplomatic efforts towards a normalization deal between Syria and Israel, with US envoy Thomas Barrack saying last week that peace between the two was now needed.

Speaking to The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, Barrack confirmed this week that Syria and Israel were engaging in "meaningful" US-brokered talks to end their border conflict.

Following the toppling of longtime Syria’s Iran-backed President Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
in December, Israel has launched hundreds of Arclight airstrike

s on military targets in Syria and carried out incursions deeper into the country’s south.

Israel has also deployed its troops into the UN-patrolled zone separating Syrian and Israeli forces under the 1974 agreement.

Israel says the accord fell apart since one of the sides was no longer in a position to implement it, and that the military action in Syria was a defensive move to protect the country from potential hostile forces that could have exploited the power vacuum. Israeli officials have referred to Syria’s interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa as a "terrorist" due to his past affiliation with al-Qaeda.

Syria and Israel have technically been in a state of war since 1948, the year Israel was established.

Israel conquered around two-thirds of the Golan Heights from Syria during the Six Day War of June 1967, and annexed the territory in 1981, in a move not recognized by much of the international community, with the exception of the United States.

A year after the Yom Kippur War of October 1973, Israel and Syria reached an agreement on a disengagement line.

As part of the deal, an 80 kilometer-long (50-mile-long) United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
-patrolled buffer zone was created to the east of the Israeli-controlled territory, separating it from the Syrian-controlled side.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on Monday that Israel had an "interest" in normalizing ties with Syria and neighboring Leb
...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. Only one of those statements is an exaggeration....
. He added that the Golan Heights "will remain part of the State of Israel" under any future peace agreement.

Syrian state media reported on Wednesday that "statements concerning signing a peace agreement with the Israeli occupation at this time are considered premature."

UN nuclear watchdog pulls its inspectors out of Iran after Tehran suspends cooperation
[IsraelTimes] Iranian foreign minister says Tehran remains committed to nuclear non-proliferation treaty; UN nuclear watchdog chief says inspection regime must not be interrupted

The UN nuclear watchdog said on Friday it had pulled its last remaining inspectors from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
as a standoff deepens over their return to the country’s nuclear facilities bombed by the United States and Israel.

Israel launched its first military strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in a 12-day war with the Islamic Theocratic Republic three weeks ago. The ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency’s inspectors have not been able to inspect Iran’s facilities since then, even though IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has said that that is his top priority.

Iran’s parliament has now passed a law to suspend cooperation with the IAEA until the safety of its nuclear facilities can be guaranteed. While the IAEA says Iran has not yet formally informed it of any suspension, it is unclear when the agency’s inspectors will be able to return to Iran.

"An IAEA team of inspectors today safely departed from Iran to return to the Agency headquarters in Vienna, after staying in Tehran throughout the recent military conflict," the IAEA said on X.

Diplomats said the number of IAEA inspectors in Iran was reduced to a handful after the June 13 start of the war. Some have also expressed concern about the inspectors’ safety since the end of the conflict, given fierce criticism of the agency by Iranian officials and Iranian media.

Iran has accused the agency of effectively paving the way for the bombings by issuing a damning report on May 31 that led to a resolution by the IAEA’s 35-nation Board of Governors declaring Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has said he stands by the report. He has denied that it provided diplomatic cover for military action.

IAEA WANTS TALKS
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Thursday that Iran remained committed to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

"(Grossi) reiterated the crucial importance of the IAEA discussing with Iran modalities for resuming its indispensable monitoring and verification activities in Iran as soon as possible," the IAEA said.

The US and Israeli military strikes either destroyed or badly damaged Iran’s three uranium enrichment sites. But it was less clear what happened to much of Iran’s nine tons of enriched uranium, especially the more than 400 kilograms enriched to up to 60 percent purity, a short step from weapons grade.

That is enough, if enriched further, for nine nuclear weapons, according to an IAEA yardstick. Iran says its aims are entirely peaceful, but there is no civil justification for enriching to such a high level, and the IAEA says no country has done so without developing an atom bomb.

As a party to the NPT, Iran must account for its enriched uranium, which is normally closely monitored by the IAEA, the body that enforces the NPT and verifies countries’ declarations. But the bombing of Iran’s facilities has now muddied the waters.

"We cannot afford that .... the inspection regime is interrupted," Grossi told a presser in Vienna last week.

Informed sources meanwhile told the TV network that Hezbollah is demanding ''real guarantees that Israel would abide by the new paper.''

''It has concerns over Barrack's paper and considers it a capitulation paper based on the previous experiences with Israel, which did not commit to agreements, Resolution 1701 or the ceasefire arrangements,'' the sources added, noting that ''the atmosphere is uneasy and marred by cautious anticipation pending Hezbollah's response.''

Al-Jadeed also revealed that Berri had met with Aoun over a dinner banquet on Wednesday evening and that the discussions tackled Barrack's paper, Hezbollah's response and the file of appointments.
