Afghanistan
Permitted terrorist organization (Permitted by Russia)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] Russia has officially recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Earlier, the Taliban was removed from the list of terrorist organizations.
Here’s hoping that doesn’t bite y’all really hard in the backside.
The Taliban have fulfilled most of Russia's wishes since 2021 ("they are cutting down the blacks", reducing poppy crops, and not interfering with Central Asia. Yes, women are still oppressed and their government is far from inclusive, but overall, they demonstrate adequacy and constructiveness. The Taliban committed their last terrorist attacks back in 2021 against the occupation forces and the puppet regime of Ashraf Ghani.

Unofficially, the Russian Federation has long recognized the Taliban and actively maintained contacts with them since 2021-2022, despite the fact that the Taliban were considered terrorists by us for several years after their victory. For several years now, Afghanistan has been receiving fuel and grain from Russia. It is expected that Russia's trade turnover with Afghanistan will expand.

The Taliban can be wished that they have more adequate factions at the helm and that they do not allow a new civil war in Afghanistan. And they continued to sell drugs.

Ethiopia declares completion of disputed mega-dam
[RT] Ethiopia has announced the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a multibillion-dollar hydropower project on the Blue Nile that has been the focus of a decade-long dispute with Egypt and Sudan. The dam will be formally inaugurated in September, the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Under construction since 2011, the GERD is designed to generate up to 5.15 gigawatts of electricity, making it the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa. While Ethiopia presents the project as a transformative energy source for the region, Egypt and Sudan have repeatedly raised concerns over its impact on downstream water flows.

...Amid ongoing disagreement over water rights, Ethiopia has pushed forward with a regional water governance framework. In October, Prime Minister Abiy confirmed the implementation of the Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA), a treaty designed to establish a permanent Nile River Basin Commission (NRBC) among upstream nations. The treaty has been signed by upstream countries including Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Burundi, with South Sudan joining in 2012.

While the treaty moved closer to activation after South Sudan’s parliament ratified it in July, Egypt and Sudan have rejected the accord. Both governments called it an "incomplete" document that is not "representative of the Nile Basin as a whole."

Egypt has warned that even a modest reduction of just 2% in its Nile water supply could lead to the loss of around 200,000 acres of farmland, posing a serious threat to national food security. Sudan has voiced similar fears, citing the river’s vital role in its agriculture sector.
There is G*d!

Fragile peace in Eastern DRC as M23 reacts cautiously to Kinshasa-Kigali acccord
[AFRICANEWS] In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
, hopes for lasting peace remain fragile amid ongoing violence and stalled negotiations. The M23 rebel group, which controls significant territory in North Kivu, responded cautiously to a June 27 peace agreement signed in Washington between Kinshasa and Kigali. The deal aims to end hostilities and uphold territorial integrity, but M23 sees it as irrelevant.

''These are matters of state-level agreements... We don't even know what was agreed in that accord,'' said Benjamin Mbonimpa, Executive Secretary of AFC/M23.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
fighting continues across North and South Kivu, where Wazalendo militias allied with the Congolese army clash regularly with M23 forces. Peace talks launched in April in Doha between M23 and the Congolese government have stalled.

''AFC/M23 is engaged in peace talks. We believe in Doha, we believe in peace,'' Mbonimpa stated. ''We never wanted war; it was imposed on us.''

In Goma, under M23 control since late January, civilians express fatigue and uncertainty.

''We've heard of the talks in Doha, but nothing has changed,'' said local resident Kasereka Amani. ''They've never told us if M23 will leave.''

''All we want is peace,'' added Justin Buwili. ''But every time peace is discussed, fighting gets worse.''

Despite the impasse, M23 says it is preparing to send a new delegation to Doha in an effort to restart dialogue. Congolese officials say negotiations remain their preferred solution, though the rebels continue to accuse Kinshasa of blocking meaningful progress.

Report: Hamas officials abroad told to hand over weapons as symbolic nod to Israeli demand for disarmament
[IsraelTimes] Senior Hamas officials abroad have been told to hand in their personal weapons amid negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the remaining Israeli hostages, the Times newspaper reports.

The directive came from Qatari mediators, the Times reports, and is largely a symbolic initiative and a nod to Israel’s demand for Hamas’s disarmament, which the terror group has thus far rejected.
”Here you are, effendi: a beautiful antique gun from the Emir of Qatar’s personal collection. You will walk up to him, bow deeply, then hand him the gun and say ‘I give you this gun to make peace with Israel.’ Then bow again, take three steps back and line up with the others on the left to await his response.”
It says that among the senior Hamas officials instructed to hand over their weapons are lead negotiator and senior politburo official Khalil al-Hayya; the Istanbul-based leader of Hamas in the West Bank, Zaher Jabarin; and the chair of Hamas’s Shura Council, Muhammad Ismail Darwish.

The report comes as Hamas is reviewing the latest ceasefire proposal, and as mediators and Israel await its response. Earlier today, a Saudi report suggested that Hamas was satisfied with the framework of the deal and would submit its response by Friday.

Sources say UBS, Goldman Sachs refused GHF requests to set up Swiss accounts
This is where a rich Zionist sets up a private bank to handle such things, just like the Trumps are setting up a crypto thing because apparently myriads of Trumpsters and other unfashionables were debanked during the Biden Politburo era. Come to think of it, if the Trump thing is already up, that should be an option for GHF, too.
[IsraelTimes] UBS declined a request by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to open a bank account in Switzerland, while Goldman Sachs did not set up a Swiss account for GHF after initial talks, two people with knowledge of the discussions tell Reuters.

GHF is a US- and Israeli-backed organization that began delivering humanitarian supplies to Palestinian civilians in Gaza in May, bypassing traditional aid channels, including the United Nations.

GHF had sought to open a bank account for a unit based in Geneva to help facilitate donations from outside the United States, two other people with knowledge of its plans say.

The foundation started talks with lawyers and banks, including UBS and Goldman, last autumn about the Swiss entity’s structure, before deciding to withdraw from Switzerland in May, they say.

The two people decline to say which other banks GHF had engaged with, and Reuters cannot establish that information independently. GHF did not respond to questions about whether it had spoken to other banks.

According to two of the people, the foundation’s plans for a Geneva branch faced setbacks, including a lack of donations and resignations of founding members, including GHF executive director Jake Wood, as well as difficulties opening a Swiss bank account.

A GHF spokesperson tells Reuters by email that the decision to withdraw from Switzerland was not because of any setbacks, adding: “It was a strategic decision to be located in the US.”

One stumbling block in talks with banks was a lack of transparency about where the foundation’s funds would come from, one of the people with knowledge of the discussions tells Reuters. Before accepting clients, banks must conduct due diligence to establish their identities and ownership, the nature of their business activities, and their sources of wealth.

GHF has not disclosed details of its finances. A GHF spokesperson says it has “spoken about initial funding from Europe, but we don’t disclose donors for their privacy.”

Nearly 1/3 of New York voters support Mamdani’s statements on BDS, intifada — poll
[IsraelTimes] A poll finds that 30% of New York City voters support statements about the anti-Israel boycott movement and the phrase “globalize the intifada” by Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic party nominee for mayor.

Mamdani is a longtime supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel.

During his campaign for the mayoral primary, he repeatedly refused to condemn and defended the phrase “globalize the intifada.”

A survey by the American Pulse polling firm asks New Yorkers about Mamdani’s backing for BDS and his refusal to “condemn the phrase ‘globalize the intifada,’ which some interpret as a call to violence against Jews.”

“Does knowing this make you more or less likely to vote for Mamdani?” the survey asks.

For all respondents, 30% say they are more likely to vote for Mamdani due to those statements, and 52% are less likely.

Among voters aged 18-44, 46% say they are more likely to vote for Mamdani due to his support for BDS and statements on an intifada.

Women are more opposed to the rhetoric than men.

The survey’s sample size is 568, and its margin of error is 4%.

India mulls $230m drone incentive after Pakistan conflict: sources
[GEO.TV] India will launch a $234 million incentive programme for civil and military drone makers to reduce their reliance on imported components and counter rival Pakistain's programme built on support from China and Turkiye, three sources told Rooters.

India's push to build more home-grown drones stems from its assessment of the four-day clash with Pakistain in May that marked the first time New Delhi and Islamabad utilised unmanned aerial vehicles at scale against each other.

New Delhi will launch a 20 billion Indian rupees ($234 million) programme for three years that will cover manufacture of drones, components, software, counter drone systems, and services, two government and one industry source, who did not want to be named, told Rooters.

Details of the programme have not been previously reported and its planned expenditure is higher than the modest 1.2 billion rupees production-linked incentive scheme New Delhi launched in 2021 to promote drone start-ups, which have struggled to raise capital and invest in research.

India's civil aviation ministry, which is leading the incentives programme, and defence ministry did not immediately respond to e-mails seeking comment.

Rooters previously reported that India plans to invest heavily in local industry and could spend as much as $470 million on unmanned aerial vehicles over the next 12 to 24 months, in what government and military officers said would be a staggered approach.

In the past, India has mainly imported military drones from its third-largest arms supplier, Israel, but in recent years its nascent drone industry has scaled up its cost-effective offerings, including for the military, although reliance on China continues for certain components such as motors, sensors and imaging systems.

If India wants more action against terrorists, it must hold talks with Pakistan: Bilawal
[GEO.TV] Pakistain People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that if India truly wants more action against terrorists, it must engage in dialogue with Pakistain to resolve bilateral issues.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Bilawal — who led Pakistain's diplomatic mission to Western nations to counter New Delhi's narrative post the May war — said India is attempting to establish a ''new normal'' in South Asia — a stance he termed as neither in Pakistain's nor India's interest.

He stressed that the future of 1.7 billion people cannot be handed over to non-state actors, criticising India for not sharing evidence of terrorist attacks with its own people, Pakistain, or the international community. ''India has faced fewer terrorism incidents compared to Pakistain,'' he noted.

Bilawal reaffirmed Pakistain's historical stance that Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
is an integral part of Pakistain, a position consistent since the time of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He further stated that Moslems in India face systemic discrimination. ''Any Moslem who speaks up for their rights is branded a terrorist,'' he said, adding that the same approach is used against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

Bilawal emphasised that Pakistain has actively fought terrorism. ''If India wants further action against terrorists, it should talk to Pakistain to find a solution,'' he reiterated. He also mentioned Pakistain's concerns about India's involvement in acts of terrorism targeting Pakistain.

Addressing a longstanding narrative, Bilawal clarified that while Pakistain historically supported certain groups during the 1980s concerning Afghanistan, it has never backed such groups in the context of Kashmir. ''Pakistain supports the Kashmiris' right to self-determination under UN resolutions, which is not terrorism,'' he concluded.

His comments came in the wake of recent tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours after India accused Pakistain of involvement in the killing of 26 civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) earlier this year — an allegation Islamabad has strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
.

Netanyahu, IDF chief said to clash in stormy meeting over plans for Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir are said to have clashed at a stormy meeting between security chiefs and senior ministers last night over future military plans for the Gaza Strip.

According to quotes from the closed-door meeting reported by Channel 12, Netanyahu ordered Zamir to prepare a plan to relocate the vast majority of the population to southern Gaza.

“Do you want a military government? Who will govern two million people?” Zamir reportedly asks.

“IDF and the State of Israel,” Netanyahu is said to have raised his voice and shouted at Zamir. “I don’t want a military government, but I’m not willing to leave Hamas behind in any way. I won’t allow this.”

Netanyahu says the alternative to the evacuation plan was to capture the entire Strip, including areas the IDF has not operated in until now for fear of harming the hostages.

“The alternative to evacuation to the south is to run over the whole Strip and capture all of it, and that means killing the hostages which I don’t want and not prepared to do,” the report quotes him as saying.

Zamir retorts to Netanyahu that such a plan could lead to a loss of control.

“We need to talk about this, we have not agreed to this. To control these people who are hungry and angry could lead to a loss of control and as a result of that loss of control they could turn on the IDF, ” Zamir warns.

Netanyahu dismisses his concern: “Prepare an evacuation plan – I want to see it when I return from Washington.”

How not to influence President Trump: 550 ex-senior Israeli security officials urge Trump to leverage Netanyahu meeting to end Gaza war
Remember when American current and former intelligence officials penned a letter sharing their opinion? I bet President Trump does. I imagine Bibi is clever enough to remember, too, unlike this lot of arrogant fools.

Hamas no longer poses a strategic threat to Israel, and as demonstrated this year on multiple fronts, Israel possesses overwhelming power and ability to neutralize any threat that might arise from Gaza in the future," he continues.

Coming out against Netanyahu’s prosecution of the war, Vilnai writes that further fighting "risks the lives of hostages, will continue to cost yet more IDF casualties and prolong the suffering of innocent Paleostinians."

High Court freezes IDF order to demolish 104 buildings in West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp
[IsraelTimes] The High Court of Justice freezes a military order to demolish 104 civilian buildings, including some 400 housing units, in the Tulkarem refugee camp in the West Bank.

The residential buildings are home to approximately 2,000 Palestinians, the Adalah civil rights organization says.

According to Adalah, the IDF claimed the demolitions were needed for “military-operational purposes,” although it did not provide evidence for the claim.

In response to Adalah’s legal challenge to the demolitions, the IDF cited general concerns about “terror infrastructure” and “security needs.”

The court issued an interim injunction on Wednesday, freezing the demolition orders, and gave the state until September 2 to submit a detailed response to Adalah’s petition.

“The interim decision marks a rare acknowledgment by the court of the severity of the demolition orders and the urgent need to give the affected families a meaningful opportunity to defend their right to remain in their homes,” says Adalah’s legal director, Dr. Suhad Bishara.

“As Adalah argued in the petition, over the past year, the Supreme Court has repeatedly approved mass demolitions—endorsing acts that amount to grave breaches of international law—and has handed the military near-blanket authority to issue and implement sweeping demolition orders without due process,” Adalah says. “To fulfill its legal obligations, the Court must go beyond temporary injunctions and strike down these unlawful orders outright.”

Report: Hezbollah agrees to ''step-for-step'' proposed by Aoun
[NAHARNET] Hezbollah has agreed to the ''step-for-step'' principle proposed by President Joseph Aoun regarding the handover of its weapons in return for Israel's withdrawal from the South and the halt of its attacks, sources told al-Arabiya's al-Hadath channel.

''Hezbollah has agreed to hand over the heavy weapons in return for credible guarantees that Israel won't wage further attacks,'' the sources added.

''Hezbollah will turn over its weapons in Beirut after Israel withdraws to the international border,'' the sources went on to say.

Hezbollah to reply within 48 hours to Lebanese paper after Aoun-Berri talks

and PM Nawaf Salam are yet to receive Hezbollah's response to the Lebanese amendments to U.S. envoy Tom Barrack's paper, which were prepared by a tripartite committee after intensive meetings at the Baabda Palace, al-Jadeed TV said.

Hezbollah is expected to deliver the response on Friday or Saturday to Berri, al-Jadeed added, noting that the joint presidential committee would meet again after receiving the official response in order to finalize Leb

Informed sources meanwhile told the TV network that Hezbollah is demanding ''real guarantees that Israel would abide by the new paper.''

''It has concerns over Barrack's paper and considers it a capitulation paper based on the previous experiences with Israel, which did not commit to agreements, Resolution 1701 or the ceasefire arrangements,'' the sources added, noting that ''the atmosphere is uneasy and marred by cautious anticipation pending Hezbollah's response.''

Al-Jadeed also revealed that Berri had met with Aoun over a dinner banquet on Wednesday evening and that the discussions tackled Barrack's paper, Hezbollah's response and the file of appointments.

Warning of ''the enemies within the country who incite sectarianism out of keenness on their interests with foreign forces,'' the president said ''coordination is well underway with the Syrian side to prevent cross-border smuggling.''
