Al-Shabaab Weapons Store Destroyed in Somalia
[Garowe] The Somali National Army (SNA) has destroyed a suspected al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
weapon store in central regions, following a sophisticated operation launched by the military within Adan Yabaal district, which is largely under the krazed killers.

The two facilities were used for storage of weapons and vehicle-borne explosive preparations, officials said. The snuffies usually use the facilities to wage attacks against security forces and innocent civilians within central regions.

Reports by security teams suggested that the compound, which was destroyed, was used by the snuffies to rig vehicles with explosives. It was destroyed beyond repair, officials said while lauding the Somali National Army for the success.

Military sources described the raid as a strategic blow to al-Shabaab’s logistical network in the central region. The damage would significantly aid the military in increasing its operations against al-Shabaab to retake the town.

"This marks a key step in disrupting the group’s capacity to launch attacks," a senior army officer told news hounds, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of the operation.

The Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local intelligence, has intensified operations across Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle in recent months to degrade al-Shabaab’s strongholds. The Ministry of Defence is yet to release further details after the attack.

Adan Yabaal town was taken by the snuffies a few months ago, but there are deliberate attempts to regain control following increased military operations within the district. al-Shabaab is fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia.

Somali Forces Repel Al-Shabaab Attack Near Baidoa in Heavy Clashes
[ShabelleMedia] Somali government forces and regional troops from South West State repelled a major attack by Al-Shabaab militants near the city of Baidoa on Sunday, following hours of intense fighting that left several insurgents dead, military officials said.

The clashes erupted early in the morning in the Daynuunay and Burjeed areas, located on the outskirts of Baidoa, after Al-Shabaab fighters launched a surprise assault on military outposts held by South West State forces.

Heavy weaponry, including mortars and machine guns, was used in the firefight, with explosions heard across several neighborhoods in Baidoa. Local residents reported widespread panic as stray shells landed outside the immediate combat zone.

“The militants attempted to overrun our positions, but our forces were prepared,” a Somali National Army (SNA) officer told state media. “We inflicted heavy casualties on Al-Shabaab, and many of them were killed at the scene. Others are on the run and being pursued.”

Although casualty figures remain unconfirmed, military sources said the confrontation resulted in a “significant blow” to the militants, who have intensified attacks in the Bay region in recent months.

Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State, is heavily guarded by Somali and allied troops, including Ethiopian forces operating under a separate bilateral security arrangement.

While the Ethiopian military’s involvement in the latest fighting has not been officially confirmed, they are known to maintain a strong presence in the region and have provided logistical and training support to local forces.

Britain
Leftist and Muslim riot to support terror group Palestine Action after gov’t announced ban plan
[X] Still an interim step — the actual banning is up to Parliament.

UK announces ban of violent pro-Palestinian activist group under anti-terrorism laws

[IsraelTimes] Members of Palestinian Action, which vandalized UK military planes last week, clash with police in London protest as home secretary unveils ban, which requires Parliament approval

Britannia said on Monday it would use anti-terrorism laws to ban the campaign organization Paleostine Action
, making it a criminal offense to belong to the group after its activists damaged two UK military planes in protest at London’s support for Israel.

The proscription would put the pro-Paleostinian group on par with Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
, al-Qaeda or ISIS under British law, making it illegal for anyone to promote it or be a member. Those who breach the ban could face up to 14 years in jail.

Members of the group clashed violent mostly peacefully with coppers during a protest in London’s Trafalgar Square on Monday, after it was forced to relocate its planned protest outside the British Parliament, staged amid reports that the ban was set to be announced.

Paleostine Action has regularly targeted British sites connected to Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems as well as other companies in Britannia linked to Israel since the start of the conflict in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. in 2023.

In its latest and most high-profile action, two of its members entered a Royal Air Force base in central England on Friday, spraying paint into the engines of the Voyager transport aircraft and further damaging them with crowbars.

"The disgraceful attack on Brize Norton... is the latest in a long history of unacceptable criminal damage committed by Paleostine Action," Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said in a written statement to parliament. "The UK’s defense enterprise is vital to the nation’s national security and this government will not tolerate those that put that security at risk."

She said the group’s actions had become more aggressive and caused millions of pounds of damage.

Under British law, the Home Secretary can ban a group if it is believed it commits, encourages or "is otherwise concerned in terrorism." The banning order will be laid before parliament on June 30 and will come into effect if approved.

Paleostine Action, which says Britannia is an "active participant" in the conflict in Gaza because of military support it provides to Israel, called the ban "an unhinged reaction" that it would challenge, and accused Cooper of making a series of "categorically false claims."

Earlier on Monday, the group was forced to change the location of a planned protest after police banned it from staging a demonstration outside parliament, otherwise a popular location for protests in support of a range of causes.

The group said in response that it changed the location of its protest to Trafalgar Square, which lies just outside a police exclusion zone.

Gathering in Trafalgar Square, members of the group and its supporters clashed violent mostly peacefully with coppers who sought to shut down the protest after the ban was announced.

Protesters surged toward police when officers tried to detain someone, while onlookers chanted "let them go." In a statement, London’s Metropolitan Police said Monday afternoon that they shut down the protest at 3 p.m. but that "crowds remained in the road."

"Officers moved in to give final warnings and a number of people who refused to leave were arrested," the police statement added. "The road is now clear."

Earlier, police said three other protesters had been arrested, two for obstruction and one for "a racially aggravated public order offense."

The police said late on Sunday that it would impose an exclusion zone for the protest planned by the group outside the Houses of Parliament.

"The right to protest is essential and we will always defend it, but actions in support of such a group go beyond what most would see as legitimate protest," Met Police Commissioner Mark Rowley said at the time.

Paleostine Action’s members are alleged to have caused millions of pounds of criminal damage, assaulted a police officer with a sledgehammer and, in the incident last week, damaged two military aircraft, Rowley added.

In recent months, the group has sprayed the London offices of Allianz Insurance with red paint over its alleged links to Israeli defense company Elbit, and vandalized US President Donald Trump

ICE arrests 11 Iranian nationals in 48 hours as Trump slams Biden for letting 'sleeper cells' into US
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
has said that former President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Too old and senile to be prosecuted, not too old and senile to set national policy...
allowed "a lot of sleeper cells" into the United States during his presidency. This comes after the president ordered the bombing of three Iranian nuclear facilities. This also comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken 11 Iranian nationals into custody in 48 hours.

While aboard Air Force One, Trump told the press when he was asked about the possibility of Iranian sleeper cells in the US, "Biden led a lot of sleeper cells in. Biden was an incompetent president. He had no idea what he was doing."

"Hardly ever signed a document. Other people signed documents for him with the auto pen. It was gross incompetence. And among everything else, he let a lot of sleeper cells in, many from Iran, but hopefully we'll take care of them," the president continued, adding that the actions of the Biden administration should "never be forgotten."

According to CBS News, in nine cities nationwide, ICE has arrested 11 Iranian foreign nationals in a 48-hour span. Among those who have been taken into custody is Mehran Makari Sahel, who was arrested near St. Paul, Minnesota. Authorities said that he is a former member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a military arm of the Iran's terror regime. He also has "admitted connections to Hezbollah," a terrorist group.

Border Patrol Agents Violently Attacked During Los Angeles Area Deportation Operations
How many of the attackers were Black Bloc/Antifa thinking of themselves as white knighting illegals guilty of serious crimes?
[BREITBART] Border Patrol agents in the greater Los Angeles area came under attack by residents unhappy with the ongoing deportation operations in two separate incidents. In one attack, a motorist rammed a Border Patrol vehicle, and vehicles were vandalized. On Friday, significant damage to units occurred after rocks were thrown, and tires were slashed.

The violent mostly peaceful attacks occurred on Friday and began at approximately 3: oo p.m., in Bell, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, on Atlantic Avenue. According to the Bell Police Department, a Jeep collided with an unmarked Border Patrol vehicle and became lodged underneath. Initial reports indicated a child may have been involved in the accident and emergency services might be required.

As coppers arrived, Border Patrol agents came under attack after a crowd of citizens breached traffic safety barricades. In a statement issued by the Bell Police Department, the crowd attacked the agents and vandalized police vehicles. Bell Police officers summoned additional assistance from Bell Gardens, Vernon, Huntington Park, South Gate, and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

Caught in the crossfire, Jordan (quietly) shields Israel as Iranian shrapnel rains down
[IsraelTims] While officially remaining neutral, the kingdom is thought to have a hand in drone and missile interceptions, exposing its unsheltered people to danger from falling debris

For the past 11 days, the kingdom of Jordan has found itself caught in the literal middle of the Israel-Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. war, turning its airspace into a battleground where ballistic missiles meet interceptors and drones are knocked out of the sky.

Falling missile debris, interceptor shrapnel, and explosive drones have injured several Jordanians and caused significant property damage around the desert country during the hostilities.

Aside from the physical danger, the conflict has placed Jordan in a precarious position diplomatically. The kingdom is sandwiched between an Israel with which it shares an American patron and discreet security cooperation but little love, and Iran, a somewhat friendly regional power that wields considerable sway. Amman maintains diplomatic ties with both.

Unlike the Paleostinians, Jordan does not have deep emotional ties with Iran, however. Instead, it leans more toward the pro-Western camp dominated by Arab Gulf allies that oppose Iran. It is also a staunch partner of the United States, which backs Israel and launched a direct strike on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.

According to Jordanian authorities, seven civilians in the country have been injured due to the hostilities since Israel began attacking Iran on June 13. The toll includes a boy, 5, and a girl, 12, who were maimed when a drone, apparently shot from Iran, crashed near al-Azraq in northeastern Jordan.

Their conditions were not disclosed. According to Jordan’s General Security Directorate, three homes and two vehicles were damaged in the same incident.

On June 14, as Iran barraged Israel with volleys of missiles loaded with massive explosive warheads, "fragments of foreign objects" fell in the southern Irbid suburb of Aydoon, some 25 kilometers (16 miles) from the Israeli border. The pieces slammed into dozens of cars and homes, and left five Jordanians with non-life threatening injuries.

"We woke up in the morning to a strange sound, and saw that fragments had fallen inside the house and shattered glass," Abd al-Rahman al-Radadweh, a resident of Aydoon whose home was hit, told a Jordanian news channel. "My brother, sister, and father were maimed, and two of my cousins were also hurt when the missile fell on their house."

A more serious event, which caused most of the injuries reported so far in Jordan, occurred earlier that week, on June 14, in Aydoon, located in the southern Irbid district near the Israeli border, a day after Israel began its strikes on Iran. According to Jordanian media, "fragments of foreign objects" fell in the area, destroying dozens of cars and homes, and lightly injuring five Jordanians.

Reports of property damage from falling shrapnel and drone interceptions have occurred on a near-daily basis over the war.

In Hatim, north of Irbid, Jordanian media published footage on Sunday showing a home with shattered windows and destroyed furniture, which the homeowner said was caused by nearby "explosions."

These may have resulted from the shockwave of an interception along the Israel-Jordan border.

A day earlier, authorities announced that multiple drones and other foreign objects had fallen in Ramtha, northern Jordan, damaging homes and vehicles, though no injuries or fatalities were reported.

According to a statement by Jordan’s National Center for Security and Crisis Management, which has been monitoring the impact of the conflict, around 100 pieces of shrapnel from drones or missiles landed in Jordan during the first seven days of the war. It did not specify how many of the pieces came from missiles, interceptors, or drones.

MIDDLE GROUND
Since fighting began, Iran has fired some 550 ballistic missiles and 1,000 drones at Israel, the vast majority of which have been intercepted.

Depending on where they are targeting and shot from, the projectiles spend a considerable part of their journey over Jordan, which inhabits as much as a third of the thousand kilometers (some 621 miles) separating Iran from Israel.

Most missile interceptions are thought to take place over Israeli airspace, though Israel says they can also occur outside the country’s borders. Aside from Jordan, shrapnel impacts have also been reported in Iraq and Syria, though on a less frequent basis.

Unlike missiles, about half of the drones, which are slower moving but harder to track, have failed to even make it to Israel’s borders, according to the military. Authorities are largely mum about who is downing them or how.

There is widespread speculation, however, that the Jordanian military is intercepting some of the missiles and drones en route to Israel, with debris from those interceptions causing damage in some instances. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
Jordan has made no official comment in recent days regarding its security actions in response to missile and drone launches from Iran toward Israel beyond announcing the activation of its air defense systems.

The June 13 statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces stated only that air defenses were being deployed in response to drones and missiles entering Jordan’s airspace, without specifying their origin. It emphasized that it would not tolerate violations of its airspace. No further official military updates have been released since then.

Jordan, which has not participated in a military conflict since the 1967 Six Day War, when it fought against Israel, is not accustomed to missile or drone attacks on its territory. While it will sound air raid sirens when foreign threats are detected, the instructions issued to the public are vague, advising citizens only to avoid open spaces. Bomb shelters and reinforced rooms are rare.

Unlike in Israel, schools in Jordan have continued operating as usual, and summer camps have recently begun. Airports and land border crossings have also remained open throughout the past week, with only temporary closures following Israel’s initial strike and the US attack in Iran on June 22th.

Nonetheless, most tourists are staying away while the missiles and drones fly, hurting a key source of income for Jordan.

On June 16, Jordan’s Tourism and Antiquities Minister Lina Annab stated that the cancellation rate for tourist bookings was extremely high, ranging from 70 percent to 100% for reservations in the near term. She noted that such a wave of cancellations was expected, given the current uncertainty and the military escalation between Israel and Iran.

Jordan’s media, which is tightly controlled by the kingdom, has downplayed reports of damage from Iranian attacks or Israeli interceptions, with even incidents involving injuries not receiving prominent coverage.

In official communications, Jordan has attempted to remain neutral, primarily issuing warnings about regional escalation. This appears to reflect fears that a broader regional conflict could severely impact Jordan. At times, however, Jordan’s official statements have also included harsh criticism of Israel.

Immediately following Israel’s surprise attack on Iran, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the attack, calling it "a violation of international law." It also joined 20 other countries across the Middle East and North Africa in signing a declaration against the Israeli strikes on Iran.

On June 17, King Abdullah of Jordan publicly addressed the Iran-Israel conflict for the first time, telling the European Parliament that "the attacks on Iran risk escalating tensions in the region and beyond... When Israel expanded its offensive to include Iran, there is no telling where these boundaries of this battleground will end." He called Israel’s actions "a threat to people everywhere."

Amman was less vehement on Sunday, after American bombers struck Iranian nuclear sites, with the Foreign Ministry saying it was "closely monitoring with great concern the consequences of the attack on Iranian nuclear facilities." It called for an end to the war and a return to negotiations to reach a political solution on Iran’s nuclear issue.

The comments and lack of coverage reflect the tightrope being walked by Jordan’s King Abdullah, who is seeking to protect the kingdom’s citizens and its pro-Western national security interests behind the scenes, while being careful in public to avoid appearing too closely aligned with Israel.

Ties between Amman and Jerusalem were already chilly before being frayed to their breaking point by war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
. Amman’s cold stance toward Israel is also likely a product of Jordan’s demographics — unofficial estimates suggest that around 60% of the population has Paleostinian roots.

WHO’S BEING DEFENDED?
Unlike other Arab countries in the region, Jordan’s mainstream outlets have not conducted public opinion polls or aired man-on-the-street interviews to gauge public opinion on the war between Israel and Iran or Jordan’s role in it.

Online, though, the military’s interceptions are a hot topic. While some believe Jordan is just protecting its airspace, others see the moves as de facto assistance to Israel.

"The message is clear: Jordan is not a playground for conflicts," one Jordanian said in a video shared online. "It is a sovereign state with institutions and an army — it is not run by groups who act based on fluctuating sentiments."

Another Jordanian woman wrote on X in support of the military’s actions: "The Jordanian army doesn’t shoot down drones or missiles arbitrarily. It intervenes when these objects go off track... posing a real threat to Jordanian lives." "Blowing them up in the sky is the right and necessary decision, because it prevents them from exploding in full force over populated areas."

On TikTok, one man asked if Jordanians wouldn’t be safer if the missiles and drones were allowed to continue on to their targets.

"In all the recent days of war, no Iranian missile or drone has fallen naturally [on Jordan], but dozens have been shot down over Jordanians’ heads," he opined. "People have been injured and property damaged — all supposedly to protect Jordanian citizens. I ask logically — what’s safer for Jordanians: to let them pass, with almost zero chance of falling, or to intercept them and increase the risk of fallout?"

With America joining the war, some Jordanians now have a new concern: radioactive fallout from attacks on nuclear sites.

In one video that has gone viral in recent days, a Jordanian doctor told his countrymen they did not need to rush out to buy iodine. Online, claims circulating on social media had suggested stockpiling the element as protection against clouds of radioactive fallout from Iran that some Jordanians now fear will be headed their way.

Police arrest three more Israelis on Iran espionage suspicions
In the end all those spies haven’t done Iran much good…
[IsraelTimes] Haifa resident reportedly stalked Netanyahu’s future daughter-in-law, sent photos of her to Iranian agent; two suspects received thousands of dollars from handlers, police say

Police and Shin Bet agents have arrested three Israelis suspected of spying on Iran’s behalf, the latest in a string of espionage incidents linked to the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

The three had no known connection to one another and were detained separately by police.

One of the suspects gathered intelligence on the future daughter-in-law of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hebrew media reported Monday, soon after police announced the arrest of the alleged spy.

Dmitri Cohen, a 28-year-old resident of Haifa, was said to have gathered intelligence on Amit Yardeni and her family weeks before her scheduled wedding to Avner Netanyahu last week — which has since been postponed following the outbreak of open conflict with Iran.

He also spied on other Israeli citizens, the police and Shin Bet said in a statement, taking pictures of peoples’ homes and surrounding areas, which he then passed on to his Iranian handler.

He was promised $500 for each task he carried out, and received thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency since first coming into contact with the Iranian agent. He used a separate phone for his espionage activities, according to the police and Shin Bet.

Cohen was arrested a month ago, before the outbreak of war with Iran, by coppers in the Coastal District’s investigations and intelligence unit, in cooperation with the Shin Bet.

A prosecutor’s affidavit was filed against Cohen on Monday morning, the police and Shin Bet said. State prosecutors in the Haifa District Attorney’s Office are expected to file charges against him in the coming days.

Later on Monday, police and the Shin Bet announced the arrest of another suspected spy, a 27-year-old Tel Aviv resident who was detained for questioning a day prior by law enforcement.

He, too, allegedly photographed the homes of public officials and military bases, as well as sprayed graffiti throughout the city at the behest of an Iranian operative, receiving thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency as compensation.

In a raid on the suspect’s home Sunday, the Tel Aviv District Police’s Fraud Division seized several electronic devices and computers they suspect were used to communicate with the Iranian agent.

He was brought on Monday morning to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, where a judge extended his detention until June 26.

Police also recently detained a 19-year-old from the Sharon region on suspicion of spying for Tehran, Ynet reported Monday.

The young man was thought to have contacted an Iranian agent and passed along confidential information to him over the course of the war.

The investigation is ongoing and being handled by the Shin Bet. Police have not yet commented on the arrest of the unnamed man, according to the outlet.

Israeli strike in southern Lebanon kills three
[GEO.TV] Leb
...home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade....
's health ministry said an Israeli strike killed three people Tuesday in the country's south, the latest such raid despite a November ceasefire with the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

"The strike launched by an Israeli enemy drone on a vehicle" in the Bint Jbeil district "resulted in the death of three people", the ministry said in a statement carried by the official National News Agency (NNA).

Israel has kept up regular strikes on Lebanon, particularly in the south, since a November 27 ceasefire meant to end over a year of hostilities, including two months of all-out war that left Hezbollah badly weakened.

Trump says Iran and Israel agree to complete ceasefire
Israel and Iran have agreed to a complete ceasefire. US President Donald Trump announced this on June 23 on the Truth Social social network.

Iran and Israel have agreed to a full and complete ceasefire in about six hours, after the current missions are completed, Trump said. Iran will cease fire first, followed by Israel 12 hours later, Trump said. After a 24-hour period of complete ceasefire by both sides, the world will see a complete end to the 12-day war, Trump assured.

“I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, for having the fortitude, courage and intelligence to end what should be called the 12-day war,” the head of the White House noted.

Trump added that the conflict could have dragged on for years and “destroyed the entire Middle East.”

Earlier, Regnum News Agency reported that Israel plans to end the operation against Iran soon, which it has notified the United States about. Israeli officials and analysts note that despite the suddenness of the first strikes on Iran, Tel Aviv is unable to control the end of military actions. If Iran continues its attacks, Israel risks being drawn into a war of attrition.

From the Times of Israel liveblog at 1:30 a.m.EDT:
IDF says larger attack on Israel this morning foiled by strikes on several Iranian ballistic missile launchers
[IsraelTimes] In the past few hours, the Israeli Air Force struck several Iranian ballistic missile launchers in western Iran, which were primed for this morning’s salvos on Israel, the IDF says.

The airstrikes foiled a larger attack on Israel, according to the military. It is unclear if the strikes were launched before the Iranian missile salvos or during them.

The military issues footage of the strikes.

Despite the action, at least four people were killed when a ballistic missile hit an apartment block in Beersheba.

After deadly missile barrages, Iranian television says ceasefire in effect; no comment from Israel
[IsraelTimes] Iranian television says that a ceasefire has begun, soon after firing a number of missile barrages at Israel.

Iran’s Press TV says that a ceasefire came into effect with the conclusion of the multiple missile barrages fired at Israel.

Most of the missiles were intercepted, but one struck an apartment building in Beersheba, killing at least four people and wounding several others.

There is no comment from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Israel hits Basij HQ in Tehran, kills hundreds of IRGC fighters in Iran
[JPOST] Hundreds of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members were killed by Israeli strikes across Tehran on Monday, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post.

"Over 50 fighter jets" targeted and struck "military command centers belonging to the Iranian regime. The sites struck included missile and radar production sites and missile storage infrastructure in Tehran," the IDF later confirmed.

During the strikes, Israel targeted various locations in Tehran, which included the Basij headquarters and Evin Prison.

The Basij is a paramilitary militia part of the IRGC. The United States designated both the IRGC and Basij terrorist entities.

The Alborz Corps, responsible for the security of several cities in the Tehran District, was also struck, the IDF said. The IDF added that various parts of the Iranian regime's military forces were hit, along with assets belonging to the Internal Security Forces and the IRGC.

The IDF also struck the Tharallah headquarters, which is a command within the IRGC and responsible for defending Tehran against security threats, Israel's military added.

The waves of Israeli strikes started following Iran's multiple barrages of missiles directed at Israel, which impacted various areas across the country, including a strategic electric infrastructure facility in southern Israel.

Defense Minister Israel Katz stated earlier on Monday that "for every shot fired at the Israeli home front, the Iranian dictator will be punished, and the strikes will continue with full force."

near the Iraqi border, the Hezbollah official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

An Iraqi border guard officer told AFP that Khalil and a member of an Iraqi gang were killed by "an Israeli dronezap" after crossing into the neighboring country.

The Iraqi group, the Sayyed al-Shuhada Brigades, said that the commander of its security unit, Haider al-Moussawi, was killed in the "Zionist attack", along with Khalil and his son Mahdi.

The former bodyguard had appeared alongside Nasrallah for years during the leader's rare public appearances.

The two men also shared family ties, with one of Khalil's sons married to a granddaughter of Nasrallah.

During Nasrallah's funeral in February, Khalil stood atop the vehicle carrying the slain leader's body.

The funeral drew a crowd of hundreds of thousands of people, the first mass event organized by Hezbollah since the end of its war with Israel.

Separately, five children were maimed in Iraq on Saturday by fallen debris from a missile near the town of Dujail in the northern province of Salaheddin, security and medical sources told AFP on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the media.

The children sustained moderate and minor injuries, a medical source said.

A security source in the area confirmed the children were maimed by "a fallen fragment from a missile".

The origin of the missile was not clear.

Since Israel launched its unprecedented attack on Iran last week, Iranian missiles and drones have been crossing paths with Israeli warplanes in the skies over Iraq, forcing Iraq to close its airspace to commercial traffic.
