Walgreens store manager in San Francisco convicted for fighting a shoplifter
[X] A young friend of mine lost a job like that, here in Cincinnati some years ago. He was a cashier for a 24/7 shop in a bad neighbourhood, working third shift. He carried a gun while working, and used it to drive off a would-be robber. Even though, as I recall, no one was hurt, the manager objected, so that was that.

It is San Francisco, after all.
Why would anyone expect sanity in how the law is applied?

Remember.
In SF they hand out a monthly paycheck to homeless, drugs, protect looters, violent rioters and persons bashing in your car windows to protest oil, all while wearing or using items made from oil products.

California senate has passed SB549 granting LA county authority to purchase fire destroyed lots for minimal cost
[X]
…stolen by Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass

“If this passes, a lot of land grab can actually happen. This bill creates a resilient Rebuilding authority or RRA which is unelected board and it's run by a state picked administrator.

So that means that us locals are not going to be able to vote for whoever runs this. It will be picked by the state government. This RRA authority can actually buy burned lots at fair value. It can hold them and resell them in the future or can also swap them into local projects. Now if they decide to swap those into public projects, 40% of those have to be for low income housing.

Now if this passes, the RRA then can completely change the zoning for the Pacific Palisades. So that means that the single family streets can now turn into low income high density apartments in Pacific Palisades. So I'm afraid to say that I don't think if this passes, Pacific Palisades will never be the same. Now what do you guys think?”

#3  You knew this was coming. With the land comes control and the erosion of individual liberty and freedom. The World Economic Forum's collective' dream. The Euro governance and oppression the Pilgrims hoped to avoid by coming here, has followed them.

"You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" is a phrase published by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The phrase is based on a 2016 essay by Ida Auken of Denmark, published by the WEF, about a future in which a hypothetical person relies on the sharing economy for many of their needs. The phrase has been used by critics who accuse the WEF of desiring restrictions on ownership of personal property.

#12  Government overreach is an extremely generous assessment of what's happening here. Anyone with any brains must suspect a criminal conspiracy to start fires, let the fires burn and then buy up burned out lots at bargain basement prices. After all this time they still can't tell us how the fires got started. But they didn't really have to start the fires. They knew that fires would happen all the time they were neglecting the lack of resources to fight fires. They had to know that sooner or later something like the Pacific Palisades fire was bound to happen and they were totally unprepared for it.

And any time you ever hear a California politician talking about "low income" or "affordable" housing you know it's a damn lie. How do I know this? Easy. They've been talking about the need for more affordable housing for the past half century at least and building as much as they can as fast as they can all that time but the cost of housing now is exponentially higher than it was when this scam started. That's proof positive that affordable housing in coastal California will always be as scarce as unicorns. This is prime real estate so it's supposed to be expensive and if you can't afford it that's tough. Buy your house somewhere else. The politicians and their developer buddies know this but they get rich while turning nice neighborhoods into slums.

The only way to make coastal southern California affordable for all the people all over the world who want to live here is to turn it into the kind of a slum where nobody wants to live. Well, it seems that Newsom and the Democrats are determined to do just that. They know that slum dwellers are more likely to vote Democrat and that's what this is all about.

Fifth Column
Advocacy group CEO claims he was offered $20 million to recruit protesters for anti-Trump demonstrations
[FOXNEWS] The CEO of an advocacy group said his organization turned down an offer that he said would have been worth around $20 million to help recruit for a national rally against President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
.

"Interests aligned with the organizers of the July 17th movement have approached us and, in fact, we rejected an offer that probably is worth around $20 million dollars," Adam Swart, the CEO and founder of Crowds on Demand, told NewsNation's Brian Entin in an interview that aired on Tuesday.

On Thursday, protests around the country are being planned against Trump, spearheaded by Good Trouble Lives On, a group that calls itself a peaceful and nonviolent mostly peaceful protest and social change organization. They are planning to oppose Trump and what they call on their website "the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations."

The protests planned for Thursday also take place on the fifth anniversary of the death of former Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a civil rights leader who routinely referred to protests as "good trouble."

Swart said Crowds on Demand — a company based in California that specializes in providing on-demand crowds for protests — rejected the offer because they didn’t think protests like the ones Good Trouble Lives On is hosting on Thursday would be effective.

"I mean this is a nationwide thing, right? It’s not to say I would have made 20 million dollars personally, but the value of the contract would have been worth around that amount nationwide to organize huge demonstrations around the country," Swart said.

"But personally, I just don’t think it’s effective," he added. "So it’s not, I’m not trying to call myself virtuous for rejecting it. What I’m saying is, I’m saying I’m rejecting it, not because I don’t want to take the business, but because, frankly, this is going to be ineffective. It’s going to make us all look bad."

"President Trump’s America is so successful that blue-haired basement dwellers are paid to stage fake protests against the administration’s remarkable achievements," Harrison Fields, special assistant to the President and principal deputy press secretary, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "Paid agitators should find real jobs instead of selling out for gift cards and meager paychecks that aim to divide the nation and obstruct America’s greatest comeback. Nothing screams a party in disarray more than one that clearly lacks organic support and is forced to astroturf everything."

Left-wing riots in Los Angeles resulting in violence, including the burning of the American flag and the assault of law enforcement officers, as well as the "No Kings Day" protests across the country, have recently made headlines.

Government Corruption
Maurene Comey, daughter of ex-FBI Director James, fired from top US Attorney's Office job after working Diddy, Epstein cases
[NY Post] Maurene Comey,
…U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York. Her father used that position as a springboard to greater things, but it looks like dear Maurene will not have the same opportunities despite her resumé…
the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, was fired Wednesday from the powerful Manhattan US Attorney’s Office — where she prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, sources told The Post.

The reason for Comey’s firing, which law enforcement and Department of Justice sources confirmed, was not immediately clear.
According to the US Constitution, the president is the chief executive officer, which means he can hire and fire — with or without cause.
President Trump has a long history of conflicts with the elder Comey and fired him as FBI director in 2017 during his first term.

Maurene Comey, who served as an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York since 2015, worked on the prosecutions of the disgraced financier pedophile Epstein and Maxwell, who was found guilty of multiple sex crimes at trial and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The nearly month-long trial ended in a jury acquitting the disgraced hip-hop mogul of the most serious charges against him — racketeering and sex trafficking — that could have landed him life in prison.
If she couldn’t make that stick…

#2  It seems to me that things getting done in order of priority, compounded by relative urgency, DarthVader. President Trump hasn’t been in office a full six months yet, and his people necessarily even less. It generally takes six months for someone new on the job to find the location of the executive bathroom and lunchroom, and who is in charge of key things needed to get the job done. While this is President Trump’s second time round, almost all of his people are not only new on the job, but many have not been accustomed to rotating in about out of government — they’re new to DC altogether.

#4  TW, we are starting to drain that swamp. Trump and his team have to do it right, like you implied. Comey and Brennon are key leaders in the corruption. Before he could really go after them he had to do a couple of strategic moves, first, turn the American people against the courts. By not racing to the SC every time an activist judge did something stupid it allowed us to see them for the corrupt people they are. It completely eroded our faith in the courts. Second, he needed to root out the corruption's funding, USAID. Now not a single democrat will go near the funding thats still floating around, because we will find it and go after them. So Trump has effectively taken away their funding and top cover. Firing Comey and the DOJ/FBI that were part of J6 put the lower levels on notice. Now he can go after the leaders of the corruption internal to the agencies. Once Comey sr get arrested, he will either sing or commit suicide. Comey and Brennon are generals, not the top, and neither are the clintons or obamas. This is going to get good...

Jill Biden's 'Work Husband' Pleads the Fifth in Probe of Former President's Mental Fitness
[X]

Anthony Bernal refused to answer when asked ‘Was Joe Biden fit to exercise the duties of the president?’

Bernal’s refusal to testify solidifies a pattern in the GOP probe: The former president’s White House doctor, Kevin O’Connor, also invoked his Fifth Amendment right as well as physician-patient privilege during a closed-door July 9 interview.

O’Connor gave Biden clean bills of health throughout his term, calling him "a healthy, vigorous, 78-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the president" in November 2021. Four months before Biden’s debate with Trump, O’Connor declared the then-president "fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency," even though he had not administered "a cognitive test because he 'did not believe the science required him to,'" according to Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson's book Original Sin.

Bernal and O’Connor’s refusal to testify follows numerous reports that have shed light on Biden’s mental and physical decline.

Federal housing official submitted Schiff criminal referral to DOJ over mortgage documents
[FoxNews] Sen Adam Schiff caught in yearslong mortgage scheme that deceived lenders, federal housing chief says

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has been referred to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution regarding mortgage documents.

The director of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in May citing alleged misconduct by Schiff, who owns homes in California and Maryland.

"Based on media reports, Mr. Adam B. Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, impacting payments from 2003-2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property," FHFA Director William Pulte wrote in the letter, which Fox News obtained on Wednesday. "As regulator of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, we take very seriously allegations of mortgage fraud or other criminal activity. Such misconduct jeopardizes the safety and soundness of FHFA’s regulated entities and the security and stability of the U.S. mortgage market."

On Monday, Pulte received a memo from the Fannie Mae financial crimes investigations concluding that Schiff allegedly engaged in "a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation" on five Fannie Mae loans, Fox News has learned.

It is unclear if the Justice Department is pursing action against Schiff at this time, but earlier this week, President Donald Trump did demand his longtime foe be brought to justice for the alleged mortgage fraud scheme.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Justice Department for more information, but they did not immediately respond.

Schiff and his wife purchased a home in Potomac, Maryland, in 2003 for $870,000, according to the letter. They entered into a Fannie Mae-backed mortgage agreement for $610,000 at a rate of 5.625% over a term of 30 years, asserting the property would be their primary and principal residence.

The letter said they reaffirmed that the Maryland home was their primary residence in mortgage refinancing filings in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, despite Schiff being an elected official representing the state of California at the same time.

Fox News obtained a copy of the 2011 affidavit showing Schiff signed certifying that the Maryland house is his primary residence.

Pulte said Schiff and his wife did not list the Maryland home as their secondary residence until 2020.

Over the same time frame, Schiff took a homeowner’s tax exemption on a condo that he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a $7,000 reduction off of the 1% property tax, Pulte wrote, citing media reports.

In 2023, the letter notes, a spokesperson for Schiff asserted that "Adam’s primary residence is Burbank, California, and will remain so when he wins the Senate seat."

"Primary residence mortgages receive more favorable loan terms, including lower interest rates, than secondary residence mortgages," the letter said. "Lenders view secondary residence mortgages as significantly riskier, as a borrower is more likely to continue paying off a primary residence mortgage during any financial hardship. Interest rates on secondary residence mortgages are typically between 0.25-0.50% higher than their primary residence counterparts; however, this gap can widen depending on the lender."

The federal housing official wrote that he believes Schiff's alleged misconduct could be violations of federal criminal codes banning wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and false statements to financial institutions.

Schiff "appears to have falsified records in order to receive favorable loan terms, and also appears to have been aware of the financial benefits of a primary residence mortgage when compared to a secondary residence mortgage," Pulte wrote.

According to the letter, a spokesperson for Schiff in 2023 told CNN that, "Adam’s California and Maryland addresses have been listed as primary residences for loan purposes because they are both occupied throughout the year and to distinguish them from a vacation property."
"Schiff is Schrodinger's Pencilneck Senator. He is here, and there, simultaneously"

Soros machine hands Mamdani millions for his socialist quest for control of New York City - American Thinker
[AMERICANTHINKER] Investigative reporter Paul Sperry has uncovered an interesting fact about leftist mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani:

BREAKING: Alex Soros has funneled $24 mil to the NYC mayoral campaign of Muslim Zohran Mamdani thru his fundraising arm Working Families, which means Soros' wife HUMA ABEDIN,whose parents are Muslim Brotherhood, "will control the mayor of NY," a lawyer investigating Abedin told me
— Paul Sperry (@paulsperry_) July 12, 2025

The New York Post reported something similar:

Socialist Zohran Mamdani has declared billionaires shouldn't exist, but it's unlikely he'd be the front-runner to become the Big Apple's next mayor if it wasn't for one — far-left kingmaker George Soros, financial records reviewed by The Post show.
...
... in less than a decade, Soros' ultra-woke grant-making network Open Society Foundation has indirectly funneled a combined $37 million to the Working Families Party and at least other nine left-wing groups whose endorsements and get-out-the-vote groundwork played a pivotal role in helping Mamdani upset ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic mayoral primary, the foundation's records show.

So this freak is no maverick. He's not a fresh face, an independent voice, a new political concept. He's a creature of the tired old Soros project, a pawn, a foot soldier in the great Soros quest to dismantle rule of law and create chaos, just as the Soros catspaws have done in virtually all blue cities where Soros-backed district attorneys no longer prosecute crime, and in blue states where Soros-backed secretaries of states preside over elections filled with fraud and long, long delays in counting.

Now the Soros plan is to take mayoralties, the better to finish off cities in ways district attorneys and secretaries of state cannot.

Yet they present this boob as an independent. He's a puppet on some strings.

The New York Post notes the irony of Soros backing a candidate who professes to want no billionaires to exist. But billionaires can always escape the consequences of such demagogues, free as they are to park and move money around the globe. It's always the little guy who takes the consequences of this doggerel against 'the rich' as any Venezuelan can tell you. Under communist regimes, the billionaires exist just fine -- as the nomenklatura ruling the government or else the rootless globalist class of the Klaus Schwab variety.

Sperry notes the additional detail that Huma Abedin, who must be viewing control of the New York City mayor's office with irony given that she almost had it when she was married to Anthony Weiner, and now sees it within reach again, has ties to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, as does Mamdani himself. That's an ugly twist, if not the center of the plot.

Biden Was Never Fit For Office To Begin With
Just the blowoff...
[THEFEDERALIST] So you're telling me a president in obvious cognitive decline, who clearly could not function after a certain point in the early afternoon, whose White House regularly called a lid at noon, ''kept his aides until nearly 10 p.m.'' on his last day in office? I'm sorry, but that's just not believable.

What is believable is that Biden's presidency was run by a faceless syndicate of aides, lawyers, and senior White House staff — the deep state, in other words. And not just in the final days regarding clemency decisions. Early on in the 2020 campaign it was obvious to anyone who cared to pay attention and be honest that Biden wasn't all there and wasn't really in charge. He awkwardly hid in his basement instead of campaigning, using Covid as the excuse. Once he took office, Biden's decline was undeniable. His routine confusion on stage and in formal settings, his physical frailty and penchant for tripping, and his incessant verbal gaffes and nonsense made it obvious that he wasn't all there.

Biden once repeatedly looked for a dead congresswomen in the crowd at a White House event and called out her name. That was in September 2022 — long before his disastrous debate performance with Trump made it obvious that he was unfit to run for a second term, let alone serve as commander-in-chief.

All along, the media ran cover for him, insisting anyone who questioned his mental acuity was a conspiracy theorist or acting in bad faith. Some, like CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
's Jake Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson, have tried to retcon all of this, writing an entire book about how the Biden White House hid the president's mental decline and ''deceived'' the press. For Tapper to co-author such a book is almost pathologically shameless, since he was one of the major media figures who ran interference for Biden by attacking everyone who noticed the president's decline.

Like nearly everything else about the Biden presidency, the autopen scandal reveals just how far the deep state was willing to go to keep a mentally compromised figurehead in office. They ran a coup against Biden last summer after the debate with Trump, only once it became obvious and undeniable that Biden wasn't all there.

The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

can cite anonymous sources all it wants to try to ''contextualize'' the use of the autopen at the eleventh hour of Biden's term, but like Biden's obvious unfitness for office throughout his presidency, the truth is right in front of us, plain for all to see. His presidency stands as one of the greatest political scandals perpetrated against the American people in a generation, and eventually someone needs to answer for that.

#4  The Calif H S Rail has been such a disaster that it has led to the canceling of planning of other high speed rail projects.

This may prove to be its most significant accomplishment.

#5  This is not Europe or Japan. The few useful rail corridors are already to congested with infrastructure in order to economically build.

#6  ^
there already is a rail corridor between LA and the SF area (Oakland)

it is an Amtrak line called the Coast Starlight
in the summer it is pretty crowded and about 1000 people a day take this line between LA and Oakland although many board or disembark at intermediate stations

#9  Once tried to guesstimate what sort of bus system could be permanently funded for the estimated final cost of this mess, using what seemed to me conservative numbers at every step. Result was multiple departures per hour in each direction, SD-SF. And the flexibility of routing and whatnot! Just about broke me heart (I'm a cheapskate who actually likes public transit).

It is insulting, an organization which takes taxpayer money instead of proving it's mission, yelling at taxpayers "Source!? Source!?".

Gavin Newsom's Four Hour, Curse-Filled, Gaslighting Interview Previews His Presidential Campaign
[PJMEDIA] Newsom certainly has taken to heart the bizarre Democrat strategy of cursing to seem relatable. He did it in nearly every sentence of this interview.

He called Donald Trump
...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried....
a liar and "son of a b***h" about water for fires, cleaning forests, and the notorious phone call they had, that Newsom said didn't take place.

Newsom called Joe Rogan, who asked Ryan to query Newsom about his horrible COVID response — responsible for convincing Rogan to go to Texas — a ''motherf*****r'' who now has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight to criticize him now. He's a ''g*****n genius now." He continued, "But at the time, none of us knew what we were up against...''

Of course, Rogan was speaking up about Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,'s crackdown on meeting people, closing gyms, shuttering churches, alternative medications, shutting down beaches, and other autocratic government edicts DURING COVID. Newsom blamed Trump and local governments for his state's bad decisions during COVID. He was, however, the governor and did little to lead.

I'm reminded of my colleague Chris Queen's homage to Pastor John MacArthur's home-going. That dude was sued, bullied, raided, threatened, and ordered to stop meeting for church in person. The county threatened to cut off the church's utilities if he didn't shut it down. He stayed open. That happened in Gavin Governor Hair Gel Newsom
...mayor of San Franciscoas it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of Californiaas it transforms itself into Cinderland...
's California.

Gavin Newsom laughed at him. He lifted no finger to help keep churches open. Pot shops were open, but churches were not. If you don't know that's wrong based on First Principles, then you don't deserve higher office. Trump's instincts were better than any experts. He was wrong to capitulate to them, it's true.

Newsom said he'd convened a blue ribbon panel of experts to find out what they did wrong. He says the report was started six months ago and is due any day now. Eyeroll.

There was much more in the interview, but there's only so much retconning a girl can take in one sitting. I'll write more in this week's West Coast, Messed Coast%u2122 report.

The Free Beacon: ''No equal on the left''
[POWERLINEBLOG] Jill Abramson is the former executive editor of the New York Times. She now teaches journalism at Northeastern University and is a contributing opinion columnist for the Boston Globe. Yesterday the Globe carried her column on the Washington Free Beacon under the headline ''The conservative weapon bringing down university presidents and law reviews.'' Subhead: ''The Washington Free Beacon is publishing scoops that have left blood on the floor at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Duke, and other prestigious corners of academia.'' The Globe has posted the column behind its paywall, but it can be accessed here on Press Reader. My daughter Eliana is editor-in-chief of the Free Beacon.

Abramson's column reads like a Free Beacon greatest hits collection. It has a lot of them. The hits keep on coming and the column is entertaining. Abramson apparently spoke with Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium, who has written several of the greatest hits, and quotes him in the column.

Abramson is a classic media lefty with self-awareness asymptotically approaching negative territory. The Free Beacon seeks to report on the left and on Democrats like the mainstream press does on Republicans, but, in my opinion, with a higher standard of accuracy and fairness. Searching for analogues, however, the best Abramson can do is David Brock's reporting on the Clintons in days of old at the American Spectator:

Combat journalism is really nothing new. When Bill Clinton entered the White House in 1992, the conservative magazine The American Spectator was lying in wait. Funded by a wealthy conservative, the late Richard Mellon Scaife, the Spectator pelted Clinton with salacious stories. The Sibarium of the Spectator was David Brock, who wrote articles about Clinton's sexual escapades (one of his stories provoked Paula Jones to sue Clinton, a lawsuit that ultimately got him disbarred for lying). Brock later disowned some of his own stories.

This is Abramson on the current media environment:

What's different now is how large and influential conservative media have become. There is no equivalent on the left, although President Trump says the entire mainstream media has a liberal bias. Sibarium's stories have impact, in part because they are picked up by the mainstream press almost immediately. His stories sometimes trigger federal investigations.

''There is no equivalent on the left'' is laugh- out-loud material. In the interest of fairness, she cites President Trump with an opinion to the contrary. It won't go far with the Globe's readership. Classic!

The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, the Star Tribune and its peers in cities around the United States, the Atlantic magazine, every broadcast network and all but one cable news network — the entirety of the ''mainstream media'' seek to take down Republicans and conservatives every day.

Indeed, they seek to do so by means fair or foul with virtually infinite resources and with the support of a huge leftist nonprofit infrastructure. The Free Beacon has no equivalent on the left doing what it does on a skinny budget and a small stuff. However, Abramson's assessment of the media terrain is an unintentionally self-satirizing joke.
