Makhachkala, June 24, 2024, 00:07 - IA Regnum. Two synagogues in Derbent and Makhachkala in Dagestan, which were attacked by terrorists on June 23, will be restored. The press service of the Russian Jewish Congress (REC) assured that the families of the victims will be provided with assistance.
“The attack on the synagogue in Derbent took place around 17:50, 40 minutes before evening prayer. A similar attack was carried out on a synagogue in Makhachkala,” the RJC confirmed.
The restoration of the synagogues is planned in the near future.
As Regnum reported, one policeman was killed and another was injured in a shooting near a synagogue in Derbent on June 23.
On June 23, in Derbent and Makhachkala, militants carried out armed attacks on two Orthodox churches, a synagogue and a traffic police post. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 19 people locked themselves indoors for their own safety.

[GEO.TV] Police have arrested 23 suspects for their alleged involvement in the lynching and killing of a person along with the torching of Madyan Police Station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swat, police told Geo News Sunday.
The arrested individuals, the police said, have been shifted to an unknown location while efforts are underway to arrest others who were allegedly involved in the incident.
The development comes after a violent mob had beaten a local tourist to death on Thursday night after accusing him of desecrating the Holy Quran, and later set his body as well as the Madyan Police Station ablaze.

A day earlier, a report by a federal agency had revealed that the hotel management had asked the deceased, accused of blasphemy, to open the door.

The report further says that neither the station house officer (SHO) of the said police station took guidance from the higher-ups on the matter nor shifted the suspect to a "safe" spot.
Also, the absence of high police officials or political leaders during the mob violence also contributed to the loss, it added.
Furthermore, the report mentions that the accused was in police custody for around 40 minutes during which he denied the blasphemy allegations hurled against him.
