"I consider what’s happened in the last few days as a serious mistake from the West and NATO in the region and it weakens our credibility to find partners on the ground who will be by our side thinking they are protected in the long-term and so that raises questions on how NATO functions," Emmanuel Macron told news hounds after a Europe

Macron said he had discovered the US decision to withdrawal from northern Syria through Twitter and that, coupled with Ankara’s unilateral offensive, it was making Europe a junior ally in the Middle East.

"I understood that we were in NATO, that the United States and Turkey were in NATO," Macron told news hounds at an EU summit.

"Like everyone else, I learned by tweet that the United States had decided to withdraw its troops."

#4  It something in the Parisian water?
(Jacques Chirac, 2003): "These countries have not been very well-behaved," said Chirac, referring to the Vilnius group. "They missed a great opportunity to shut up." Monsieur le President also suggested that the leaders of those nations had acted "recklessly" by not recognizing the "danger of aligning themselves too rapidly with the American position."
In effect, what Chirac told those EU candidate nations is that they are expected to take their marching orders from Paris and Berlin.

#3  He seems to misunderstand what NATO is. it's a partnership to defend Europe from Soviet invasion. What sovereign members of NATO do outside that is not really NATO's business.

#2  All this pearl clutching at what is going on in Syria now is part of the "R2P" - Responsibility To Protect - nonsense cooked up by the left-globaloney crowd as a hair shirt to wear in the aftermath of the Rwanda debacle.

#1  Shut up Macron. You're already a junior "ally". In fact a lot of people question your ally status. Allies don't rip each other off.

The USA has no interests in Syria. None. Deploy French troops if it's so fucking important. Asshole.
