| Defense volunteer gunned down in southern Thailand |

| A village defense volunteer was gunned down in an attack in a rubber plantation in Pattani province on Sunday morning. The attack occurred on a road inside a rubber plantation near Ban Khlong Chang. As Somchai Chainui was returning home from the plantation, he was attacked by four men who followed him on two motorcycles with pistols. Somchai was shot more than 10 times and was killed instantly. The attackers took Somchai's 9mm pistol before fleeing. |
