Two killed in Philippine bomb blast

A bomb went off aboard a motorized rickshaw near a municipal building packed with visitors in the southern Philippines Thursday, killing the two men on board. The bomb exploded less than a kilometer away from the town hall in Maguindanao.

"The (rickshaw) was moving when it suddenly exploded. The two people aboard were killed," provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Marcelo Pintac said.

Pintac added that investigators were looking into the possibility that the two men may have been planning to leave the bomb elsewhere but that it detonated prematurely. He said celebrations marking the founding anniversary of the town were going on and there were many people in the area when the explosion occurred, although no one else was wounded.
