At least five mortar rounds were fired near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu early Tuesday morning, local sources said, raising concerns over the security of one of the capital’s most heavily guarded zones.
Residents living in neighborhoods surrounding the airport reported hearing loud explosions consistent with mortar fire. The exact impact sites remain unclear, and no official casualty figures have been released.
"The blasts were very loud and could be heard from various parts of the city," said one resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns.
