![]() ... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... were killed during operations conducted over the past two weeks in the Middle and Lower Shabelle regions. According to a statement released by NISA today, at least six operations were carried out across the two regions, resulting in the deaths of al-Shabaab leaders and fighters. The country’s spy agency added that these operations included direct combat as well as ... KABOOM!... s targeting the group, which is linked with the al-Qaeda network. The operations took place between March 29 and April 5, with NISA reporting that they were conducted within a span of six days, excluding three days in the current month. The operations saw a significant increase in frequency, as the Somali government, in coordination with local defense forces, stepped up efforts against al-Shabaab fighters operating in both regions. These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Somali government to push back al-Shabaab snuffies and reclaim territory controlled by the group in southern Somalia. |
