Entire Gaza Division was overrun for hours, and IDF didn’t know it; 767 troops faced 5,000 terrorists Top command was unaware regional division was not functioning for nearly 10 hours during onslaught; army failed to build a picture of the situation, backup didn’t reach the right areas IDF identified but ignored 5 warning signs of Hamas attack on eve of Oct. 7, its probe shows Before 4 a.m., Southern Command chief spoke with senior intelligence officers and Shin Bet officials about unusual activity, but they all determined no attack was imminent The intel on Hamas attack plan was there, but IDF simply refused to believe it, probe finds Investigation into failures by Military Intelligence Directorate shows IDF received plans detailing possible attack in 2022, but considered it unlikely, viewed Sinwar as pragmatist Before Oct. 7, IDF probe shows, Hamas duped Israel into thinking it did not pose a major threat Military’s perceptions of terror group led it to believe tunnel capabilities had been degraded, Hamas was not interested in major war and border fence would thwart any attack IDF’s Oct. 7 probes show it misread Hamas for years, left southern Israel utterly vulnerable Investigations detail military’s decade-long ‘misperception’ of Hamas, its refusal to recognize the imminent invasion even in the last few hours, and the chaos that catastrophically slowed the fightback on the day After IDF’s Oct. 7 probes are released, Halevi says he takes full responsibility for failures IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi says he takes full responsibility for the military’s failures during the lead-up to the Hamas terror group’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, and on the day itself. “My responsibility is mine, I was the military commander on October 7. I have my responsibility and I also have all of your responsibility,” Halevi said to senior officers on Monday, during a presentation of the IDF’s probes into the attack. Earlier this evening, the investigations were released to the public. Halevi is resigning from the IDF on March 5. Netanyahu demands findings of IDF investigation of Oct. 7 be shared with him Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff has sent a letter to the Defense Ministry demanding that the findings of an IDF investigation into the October 7 attacks be shared with his boss. “The investigations were shared with the defense minister, the IDF senior command, and journalists who were briefed,” writes Tzachi Braverman. “Amazingly, one official has yet to receive the investigations — the prime minister.” “Proper procedure requires that these investigations also be shared with the prime minister without having to ask for it,” he writes. An embargo on details of the investigation is set to be lifted this evening. |

#3 yeah, but you took them seriously, you'd have to do something about it.. Call out the QRF--again. Here come the choppers, the "evidence" and "indications" go to ground and start...hoeing gardens, playing soccer, nothing happens. Again. Until the QRF guy starts talking about maintenance time building up. Higher's looking at his....budget. |

#1 The law of the last ten percent: Going from almost perfect to perfect is an immense effort. The easy stuff, and the not-so-easy stuff has been done. But...need more man power. Need to have more attention to indications coming in. Budgets are tight. Nothing's happened. And nothing. And the budget's tight. Got other responsibilities for some of the folks and you can't keep the reserves up beyond their time except...there's a budget for that and it's tight. ANd other things need to be done and you look at those most obvious. Ninety percent's good enough. That will do it. |
