"An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 occurred on the night of February 16. The epicenter of the tremors was in the Pacific Ocean, 101 kilometers south of the uninhabited Kuril island of Simushir," RIA Novosti quotes her as saying.
Semenova specified that the source was located at a depth of 62 kilometers. There was no information about the earthquake's perceptibility, and no tsunami threat was announced.
Earlier, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7, registered on the night of February 15 on the border of Mongolia and the Altai Republic. The tremor was recorded 26 kilometers from the village of Kosh-Agach. The depth of the source was 10 kilometers. In the village of Kupchegen, Ongudaysky District, minor damage to the plaster in a school was found, and in Kosh-Agach, short-term power outages were noted.
