[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Protests have continued in Aden city, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... , for the second week in a row, coinciding with the continued decline in the value of the local currency, as the exchange rate of the US dollar approached 2,400 Yemeni riyals.
Protesters raised banners demanding that the coalition-backed government improve living conditions and put an end to the continued decline of the Yemeni riyal, chanting slogans such as ''Oh Buraiqeh, wake up, no more coalition.'' They also accused the coalition of causing a state of systematic economic collapse and starving citizens by destroying basic services, especially electricity, due to the shortage of fuel to operate power stations. Protesters confirmed their commitment to continuing their protests and escalating to achieve their demands, stressing their rejection of the coalition's presence in Aden and other southern regions. These protests come amid stifling crises in Aden and the southern provinces, most notably power outages for more than 19 hours a day, rising prices of basic foodstuffs, and a new crisis related to domestic gas, without any government measures being taken to alleviate the suffering of citizens. | |
