[Regnum] A detachment of Pacific Fleet ships, consisting of the corvettes Rezkiy and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov, conducted exercises in the East China Sea. This was reported on February 7 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
“In the East China Sea, the crews conducted an air defense exercise, during which combat crews detected simulated air targets and destroyed them with anti-aircraft artillery fire at a safe distance from the detachment,” the defense department said in a statement.
The Russian corvettes were accompanied by ships and aircraft of foreign countries during their passage through the East China Sea. Upon arrival in the South China Sea, the ships' crews replenished their food and fuel supplies.
It is noted that the exercises are being conducted within the framework of the approved plan for a long-range voyage in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the plan, the corvettes will conduct exercises to search for and destroy submarines of a simulated enemy, the Defense Ministry specified.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on February 6, the Pacific Fleet press service reported that the diesel-electric submarine Magadan completed a deep-sea dive (DSD) to a depth of 240 m in Avacha Bay off the coast of Kamchatka.
The submarine crew, having successfully completed the underwater part of the exercise, surfaced and continued to operate within the framework of the fleet's combat training plan. The corvette Gremyashchy and the rescue ship Georgy Kozmin also provided support for the tasks.
On December 3, Regnum reported that the Russian Navy and Aerospace Forces conducted joint launches of high-precision sea- and air-based missiles in the Eastern Mediterranean during exercises. The frigates Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko fired hypersonic Zircon missiles.
