[Regnum] In 2024, about 450 thousand people signed a contract for military service in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces. This was announced on January 24 by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
During a meeting of the relevant interdepartmental commission, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council proposed summing up the results of 2024 and discussing measures to maintain the current rate of military recruitment.
"The task that was set before us by the country's president last year has been fulfilled. About 450,000 people have signed a contract for military service. In addition, more than 40,000 of our citizens have joined volunteer formations and gone to the special military operation zone," he said.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on December 16, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the military department board that over 1,000 people signed contracts with the Defense Ministry every day this year. The flow of volunteers signing contracts for military service does not stop, the head of state added.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, who took part in the meeting, specified that on average more than 1,200 people sign contracts every day. According to him, it is necessary not to lose the momentum of this process.
