The Ukrainian Defense Forces are directing their efforts to disrupt the offensive plans of the Russian aggressor and destroying its personnel and equipment.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information on the Russian invasion as of 16:00 on Saturday, January 18.
"The situation on the combat line remains difficult. In total, 89 combat clashes have already occurred since the beginning of the day. Most of the fighting has been recorded in the Pokrovsk direction," the statement says.
The communities of the settlements of Timofeevka in the Kharkiv region; Zhelezny Most in the Chernihiv region; Popovka, Sosnovka and Progress in the Sumy region suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Kharkov direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our troops in the Volchansk area five times.
In the Kupyansk direction - four, in the areas of Petropavlovka, Lozovaya and Peschanoye. Glushkovka received a KAB strike.
In the Liman direction, the Russians attacked Ukrainian positions nine times near the settlements of Zeleny Gai, Pervomayskoye, Kopanki, Novoegorovka, Novosadovo, Novolyubovka and Zarechnoye. Four clashes are ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked four times in the areas of Chasovy Yar and Stupochki, and dropped two KABs on Markov.
In the Toretsk direction, 16 enemy attacks occurred in the areas of Toretsk, Krymskoye and Shcherbinovka, 10 attacks were repelled, the fighting continues.
"In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have made 32 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Vodyanoye Vtoroye, Elizavetovka, Luch, Lisovka, Zelenoe, Shevchenko, Uspenovka, Slavyanka, Andreyevka, Dachnoye, Ulakli and Yantarnoye." They are holding back the onslaught and repelling 28 enemy attacks, four combat clashes are still ongoing," the General Staff reports.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, the Russians attacked 12 times near Velikaya Novosyolka, the fighting continues. The enemy dropped KABs on Adradnoye, Razliv, Vesyoloye and Temirovka.
In the Orekhov direction, the occupation forces carried out one assault on the positions of our troops in the Novodanilovka area.
The enemy also unsuccessfully attempted to storm the positions of our defenders in the Dnieper direction.
"The operation in Kursk region continues. Ukrainian soldiers repelled five attacks by the invading forces today, and three combat clashes are currently ongoing. The enemy launched 224 artillery strikes, including four from multiple launch rocket systems," the report continues.
Let us recall that during the assaults, fighters from the 12th Azov special forces brigade captured 23 Russian army soldiers in the Toretsk direction.
It was reported that Ukrainian military personnel in the Kursk region captured 13 Russian army soldiers.
