[Regnum] Corporal Andrei Grigoriev from Yakutia was awarded the title Hero of Russia for the victory he won in hand-to-hand combat with a Ukrainian soldier. The corresponding decree was signed on January 11 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“For courage and heroism demonstrated in the performance of military duty, award the title of Hero of the Russian Federation to Corporal Andrei Nikolaevich Grigoriev,” the document says.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian fighter Grigoriev, call sign Tuta, defeated a Ukrainian soldier in hand-to-hand combat in a special operation zone.
The fight was recorded on a camera attached to the Ukrainian''s helmet. The hand-to-hand combat began when the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to recapture the village of Trudovoye in the Donetsk People''s Republic from the stormtroopers of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Forces Group "Vostok".
Before his death, the Ukrainian called Grigoriev "the best fighter in the world." In this fight, Tuta himself received many serious wounds. The fighter survived and is currently undergoing treatment. On January 3, he said that when he got the video, he could not watch it to the end. Grigoriev said that before the fight, the Ukrainian killed his friend.
The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, met with Grigoriev and gave him a Yakut knife as a keepsake. He thanked the fighter and added that the residents of the republic are proud of their fellow countryman.
