[Regnum] Two teenagers who planned to commit a terrorist attack in crowded places in Yekaterinburg have been charged, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on January 4.
“Charges have been brought against a group of people for preparing a terrorist act, illegally manufacturing and carrying explosives and explosive devices, committed by prior conspiracy,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
According to investigators, two minors independently manufactured an explosive device and an electric detonator. One of the accomplices carried them in his backpack until the moment of detention. It is also reported that one of the defendants was involved in the arson of a police service car on December 22, 2024 on Chapaeva Street.
At the moment, investigators are establishing the involvement of the accused in the crimes.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on January 4, the FSB reported the arrest of four teenagers born in 2007 and 2008 for preparing an explosion in a crowded place in Yekaterinburg. They were found to have components of a homemade explosive device and communications equipment containing instructions for making the device.
A criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 (“Preparation for a terrorist act”), Part 3 of Article 222.1 (“Illegal storage of explosives or explosive devices”), Part 2 of Article 223.1 (“Illegal manufacture of explosives or explosive devices”) of the Criminal Code.
