[Regnum] Rebels from the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) shot down an American-made MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over Yemeni territory. This was reported by the military representative of the said organization, Yahya Saria.
“We managed to destroy the American MQ-9 drone,” he said on the Al Masirah TV channel.
Does this mean American military intelligence now knows where the Houthi targetting group can be found?
According to Saria, the drone was in the airspace of Marib province. The Ansar Allah representative claims that this is the second MQ-9 Reaper that the Houthis have managed to shoot down over Yemeni territory in the last 72 hours.
He added that since the beginning of the escalation in the Middle East, the movement's forces have intercepted 14 American UAVs of this type. The MQ-9 Reaper is in service with the US and Britain.
As reported by Regnum, on December 28, the Houthis claimed to have attacked the Nevatim air force base in the Negev Desert in southern Israel with a Palestine-2 hypersonic missile. The missile was said to have successfully hit its target.
On December 31, Yahya Saria said Ansar Allah had attacked the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier using cruise missiles and drones. The Houthis attacked the ship as it was preparing to strike targets in Yemen.
A few hours after this statement, it became known that the city of Sanaa (the Yemeni capital) was subjected to airstrikes. According to the Al Masirah TV channel, one of the targets was the Al-Arda complex, where the Ministry of Defense of the National Salvation Government, created by the Houthis, is located.
