The attack took place near Kunyo Barow, where Mire was reportedly killed while holding a meeting.
Mire, who had been with al-Shabaab for over 15 years, was a key figure within the organization, previously serving as the governor of the Hiraan region and a member of the Shura Council. More recently, he held the position of head of regions (Wilayaat), a role central to the group’s administrative and strategic operations.
