| Ukraine sends food aid to Syria |

| [RUDAW.NET] Ukraine has sent 500 tonnes of flour to Syria as a humanitarian gesture following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, the country's president announced on social media on Friday. ''500 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat flour are already on their way to Syria as part of our ''Grain From Ukraine'' humanitarian program in cooperation with the WFP,'' Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on X, referring to the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP). Zelensky emphasized his support for the Syrian people in a ''time of need.'' ''The wheat flour is planned to be distributed to 33,250 families or 167,000 people, in the coming weeks,'' he added. He expressed his hope for Syria's stable recovery and safety following 13 years of civil war. Ukraine is a major exporter of wheat. |
