| Iraqi warplanes target suspected ISIS hideout in Salahaddin |

| [Rudaw] Iraqi warplanes on Wednesday targeted a suspected Islamic State (ISIS) hideout in Salahaddin province, killing several members of the group, the country’s security forces announced. The air force “They targeted this terrorist squad that was hiding inside a cave… with F-16 aircraft, turning the targeted area into rubble over the heads of the terrorists and killing them,” the Security Media Cell said in a statement. The cave was located in the Shay valley in the eastern Salahaddin operations command sector, according to the statement. The strike in territories disputed between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is the latest in an ongoing effort by Baghdad to rid the country of ISIS cells in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate. |
