House passes government funding bill after Elon Musk's drama with Speaker Mike Johnson
2024-12-21
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] The House passed a government spending bill Friday evening to avoid a government shutdown set to ensue at midnight, but now the clock is ticking for the Senate and President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
The continuing resolution (CR) that was passed by the House extends government funding until March and provides over $100 billion dollars in relief funds to hurricane

victims, farmers and more.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the Senate must now vote to approve the bill and President Joe Biden must sign it into law to avoid a lapse in federal spending set to occur just after midnight Friday.

Both are expected to approve the CR, though if they don't do it quickly enough federal funding may run out and the government could, at least momentarily, enter into a partial shutdown.

The 118-page bill passed with bipartisan support in the House, 366 - 34, after Republican Speaker Mike Johnson negotiated with his Democratic counterpart Hakeem Jeffries over the details in multiple conversations on Friday.

The 11th-hour passing of the GOP spending deal late Friday came after President-elect Donald Trump
...The cad! Twice caught beating wimmin!...
and billionaire Elon Musk demanded Johnson capitulate to their policy priorities during his negotiations.

Johnson originally proposed a 1,547-page CR, but that was quickly derided by many in the GOP and most notably by Musk, who used the bully pulpit of his X app and his 200 million followers, to ridicule Johnson's plan until the speaker went back to the drawing boards.

After deliberating with Trump's team Johnson then produced a 116-page bill backed by the president-elect and Musk. But that went down in flames with a 174 to 235 vote on Thursday after nearly every Democrat and 38 House Republicans voted against it.

#7  Every time they pass one of these 'continuing resolutions' the value of dollar drops like a bunghole after leftover taco bell.

#6  Like I said, the farm aspect of it is not Josiah and Edith trying to keep the homestead.

Food stamps, including allowances for booze mixers junk food, then helping Tyson build a cricket flour factory, and the Juan Deere PR campaign. Allllll the way down there at the bottom Josiah gets a liiiitle bit of kickback from the fleecing he gets every step of production. Unless of course his generational field gets declared a wetland by the EPA.

#4  But Kay Granger (R-Tx) didn’t vote on the bill or anything since the summer. Turns out that she has been in an elder memory facility in Texas since then. Biden and Mitch are not alone. You would figure there would be a facility in DC with a shuttle bus.

#3  Don't kid your self about this funding bill. The Farm Bill is essentially for Food Stamps. The 2024-25 budget began 10/1/24 and runs to 9/30/25, why are they out of money for Food Stamps you ask? Try 25 million newcomers on for size.
If Trump wants to get rid of them cut off their money/food. The R's should have started their relocation now.
