Find tow trucks in Australia

#2  The company that provides that service to insurance companies in the US has NO equipment. Once you call in they start calling tow companies near you and asking if they will take the job for way below market rates. If the company accepts the job, you will go to the end of the line and stay there until their regular clients are serviced.

I waited hours for a tow that never came and finally limped by truck home.

It's free and worth what you pay for it.

#1  A 'free' service offered by many US insurance policies. In reality the toll-free number for roadside assistance goes to a call center. Regional providers are subscribers to the insurance referral service.

A roadside assistance provider may at anytime decline the tow offering.

During a cold spell in Denver I found no service would drive the 50 miles to the airport and back for just a jump. There was too much billable work in town. I hired a taxi from arrivals to take me to the long term parking, with extra $$s for a jump using my own cables. /rant
