The General Staff reported on the operational situation regarding military actions in the area of ​​responsibility of the Khortitsa: Kurakhovo Joint Forces Command, effectively refuting previously circulated statements about Russian troops' control over the city.
It is noted that the Kurakhovsky direction remains one of the hottest on the entire front of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"Our troops are fighting back against the occupiers, who have a significant advantage in personnel and equipment, and are attacking with the support of artillery and aviation," the statement noted.
Since the beginning of the day, ten armed clashes have occurred in the Kurakhovo area.
The military added that in an effort to seize Kurakhovo at any cost, the enemy is conducting active assault operations on the southeastern outskirts of the city. At the same time, it is trying to seize a road junction and a block of apartment buildings in its southern part.
For this purpose, as well as for the purpose of capturing important administrative and industrial facilities and structures located in the central part of the city, sabotage and reconnaissance groups are trying to infiltrate.
Yes, the General Staff claims, there have been recorded cases of sabotage and reconnaissance groups using civilians.
In turn, in order to prevent such actions by the enemy, the Defense Forces carry out counter-sabotage measures. The command makes all necessary decisions taking into account the complexity of the situation.
The General Staff expressed enormous gratitude to the soldiers, sergeants and officers who held back the Russian occupiers.
But they reminded that the Russian Federation continues to wage a complex hybrid war against Ukraine: along with the offensive of its troops on the ground, it actively implements special operations in the information space. Thus, in support of the implementation of the tasks of the Kurakhovo operation, the enemy is disseminating distorted information about the situation in the city.
"Therefore, observe information hygiene and trust official sources," the message urged.
Earlier, analysts reported that Russian invaders hung their flag on the building of the Kurakhovo city council in the Donetsk region.

"The situation has also worsened in Novyi Komar, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces recently carried out a cleanup. On December 14, a column of 9 infantry fighting vehicles and 1 tank at the head drove through the fields south of Razdolnoye and calmly dropped off at least 50 "people," the statement noted.
Analysts explained that now this entire mass of occupiers has dispersed into houses and basements in the southern and central parts of the village.
