… congressional notice reviewed by The Washington Free Beacon. On November 8, Secretary of State Antony Blinken determined it was in the “national security interest of the United States” to waive sanctions, allowing Iraq to transfer funds to Iran for electricity payments.

Despite Republican objections warning the funds could fuel terrorism and Iran’s aggression against Israel, the administration has repeatedly renewed the waiver. One renewal came just a month after Hamxs’s October 7 attack on Israel.
