[Regnum] The nuclear-powered missile submarine Knyaz Pozharsky will be transferred to the Russian Navy in 2025. This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the All-Russian Movement to Support the Fleet Vladimir Maltsev.
The Russian Navy will receive a Project 955A nuclear missile carrier at a ceremonial handover in June next year, Maltsev said.
This strategic class ship "Borey-A" was built at the largest shipbuilding complex in Russia "Sevmash", which is located in Severodvinsk on the coast of the White Sea.
As previously reported by the Regnum news agency, the nuclear-powered strategic submarine cruiser passed factory sea trials on August 12. This was reported by the general director of the shipbuilding complex, Mikhail Budnichenko.
Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Alexander Moiseyev also stated that the Borey- class nuclear-powered strategic missile submarines will remain in service for another 40 years. He noted that the specified period is a requirement for such weapons.
