Sebastian Gorka Appointed White House Senior Counterterrorism Adviser to President Trump

[Breitbart] President-Elect Donald Trump announced Saturday his appointment of Dr. Sebastian Gorka, former senior Trump administration official and host of the America First podcast, to the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director of Counterterrorism.

"Since 2015, Dr. Gorka has been a tireless advocate for the America First Agenda and the MAGA Movement, serving previously as Strategist to the president in the first Trump Administration," Trump said in his announcement.

Dr. Gorka is a legal immigrant to the United States, with more than 30 years of National Security experience. In 2015, he was one of my Advisors for the GOP Primary Debates on National Security. At the time, he held the Major General Matthew C. Horner Chair of Military Theory at the Marine University Foundation, and was a Guest Instructor at the JFK Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg. Prior to that, he was Associate Dean for Congressional Affairs and Relations to the Special Operations Community at National Defense University, and Kokkalis Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He is a Recipient of the DoD Joint Civilian Service Commendation awarded by USSOCOM for his work in Counterterrorism.

In addition, Gorka was the national security editor at Breitbart News.

Gorka was born in London to Zsuzsa and Pál Gorka.[14] His parents had fled to the United Kingdom from Hungary after the failed anti-Soviet 1956 uprising[15] and became naturalised British citizens on February 25, 1963.[16] He attended St Benedict's School in west London, and received a lower second-class honours (2:2) B.A. degree in philosophy and theology from Heythrop College, a constituent college of the University of London.[17][15][18][19]

While at university, Gorka joined the British Territorial Army as a volunteer (typically committing to a weekend a month and a fortnight's annual camp), serving over a period of three years in the 22 Intelligence Company of the Intelligence and Security Group (Volunteers), an interrogation unit with a NATO role specializing in Russian language training and supporting 1 (BR) Corps until the latter was disbanded in 1992 at the end of the Cold War.[20][15][21][22][23]

In 1992, Gorka moved to Hungary, where he worked for the Hungarian Ministry of Defence[24] while studying for a master's degree in international relations and diplomacy at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration, now known as the Corvinus University, which he completed in 1997. In 1997, he was a Partnership for Peace International research fellow at the NATO Defense College in Rome.[25]

In 1998, Gorka served as an adviser to Viktor Orbán.[26] In 2002, he entered the political science doctoral program at Corvinus University where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2007.[7][27] Gorka is a naturalized American citizen.[28]
