...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
on Sunday.

The strikes caused extensive damage to buildings, infrastructure, and public facilities, leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins, according to local and media reports.

The deadliest attacks occurred in the town of Almat, located in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, where at least 20 people were killed in a horrific Israeli attack targeting a residential complex.

Another 17 fatalities were reported in the southern town of Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain, while three others were killed in the coastal town of Addloun as a result of the indiscriminate Israeli attacks.

Simultaneously, the Israeli occupation warplanes and artillery shelled several towns across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley, including the cities of Baalbek, Tyre, and Nabatieh, as well as numerous villages such as Adloun, Sohmor, Mashghara, Labaya, Khyam, Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, and several others in both the south and the Beqaa region.

The bombardment also targeted the villages of Qalila, Ain Baa'l, Sreine, Boudai, Saida, al-Wazzani, Marjayoun, Dhayra, Kafr Tebnit, Tayr Harfa, and others in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Yesterday, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced that the documented number of fatalities since the beginning of the Israeli assault on Lebanon in October 2023 had risen to 3,136, with 13,979 others reported maimed
The Times of Israel adds:
Sunday, the IDF said the commander of Hezbollah’s artillery forces in southern Lebanon’s Blida was killed in a recent airstrike after he was spotted by troops of the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit as he was launching an anti-tank missile at Israel.

A short while later, the IDF said it carried out an airstrike against one of Hezbollah’s main command centers in Blida, killing the commander.

The 869th has directed numerous strikes on Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure during operations in southern Lebanon with the 91st Division in recent weeks.
