[Regnum] In Sevastopol, Captain 1st Rank Nikolai Mikhailenko, who died in Syria while performing special tasks, was seen off on his final journey, the city's governor Mikhail Razvozhaev reported on October 21.
Mikhailenko was born in Chernigov into a military family, dreamed of a military career since childhood and after finishing school entered the Sevastopol Nakhimov School, Razvozhaev said on his Telegram channel.
After graduating from the school, Mikhailenko served in the Navy, successfully advancing up the career ladder, and in recent years taught at his native school, the governor noted.
"While teaching, Nikolai Nikolaevich did not sit in classrooms. He took advantage of every opportunity to visit places where new tactical methods were used in practice, and where weapons and military equipment were tested," the governor of Sevastopol said.
According to his fellow servicemen, Mikhailenko was a true comrade in arms, he skillfully trained and educated young cadets, Razvozhaev noted. The hero will be remembered in Sevastopol, he added.
