[LawEnforcementToday] ...the Defense Department has secretly made it legal through the reissue of Directive 5240.01 to use the military against our own citizens.

#13  Following advice herein, article is moved to Page 2: War on Terror Background/Politics. Thank you, gentlemen.

While bullets won't work.

The A-10 Warthog is getting a new fire control computer system from Raytheon Intelligence & Space.

So I wonder how many CCP made IC's are in it, and if the FoF system can be hacked?

#10  @#4: Good luck with that shotgun disabling an A-10.

I'm not certain the Patriots among us are ready for gorilla warfare against a tech advanced (although woke) American standing armed force.

If the Iron Eagles can deliver the goods, however, it could be a different story.

#8  TW: As military resources from already under-manned units would be used to staff the Directive [potentially] leaving the country vulnerable, I suggest this would fall under Page 2: at home WoT-Politics.

#7  So guide me here, please: Should this be filed as merely Page 3: Non-War in Terror or a very concerning Page 6: Seedy Politics?

#6  If the demoncrats tried, most of the military is still right leaning and heavily supports Trump. Most likely they would turn their guns on the government as it would be an unlawful order.

That being said, yes, this is an old law.

#4  The Insurrection Act has been on the books since the beginning of the old republic. Nothing new here.

However, your military is still small compared to the oversize of the armed public (as the Founders intended). They can only control where they have footprints.

#3  I don’t know how secret it is — I searched Directive 5240.01, and the first thing that popped up was a PDF of the thing, dated September 27, 2024. See here.

The second item is a/the same thing dated August 27, 2007. The third is a factcheck on the subject from a blogger who claims to have triggered the outcry. Then the DOD manual on the subject from 2016.

I started reading the first link, which rapidly made my eyes cross as badly as insurance information or investment prospectuses. How you military types get from something like that to actually fighting a war is beyond me. Still, if some of you would be so kind as to review the thing in comparison to previous versions and report back, we’ll know if this is actually worth fussing about.

#2  I don't think they'd really like that plan once they try to implement it.

#1  Might this be the surprise the Dems are planning to interrupt voting? Suspicious timing...
