[Regnum] Access to the Discord messenger in Turkey has been decided to be blocked, said the head of the Turkish Ministry of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc.
“A decision has been made to block access to the social media platform Discord in Turkey,” state television channel TRT haber quotes Tunç as saying.
As reported by IA Regnum, on October 8, Roskomnadzor announced a restriction of access to Discord in Russia. The reason for the blocking is a violation of legal requirements aimed at preventing the use of the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes, recruitment of citizens to commit such crimes, drug sales, as well as in connection with the posting of illegal information.
According to Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, IT and Communications, a social network that does not protect users from destructive content and violates the law cannot continue to operate in Russia. He added that Discord has proven especially convenient for involving teenagers in illegal activities due to the lack of proper moderation.
