Multiple explosions heard in Rojava’s Qamishli
2024-10-10
[Rudaw] Three explosions have been reported in Qamishli city, northeast Syria (Rojava) late on Wednesday, injuring at least one person.

Local security forces have yet to comment and there are few details immediately available.

"Three shells of unknown sources" were fired at Qamishli, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which relies on a network of sources on the ground.

At least one of the blasts was heard near Qamishli airport, ANHA news outlet reported, adding that one civilian was injured.

Ronahi TV, a broadcaster affiliated with the Kurdish authorities, described the earth-shattering kabooms as "powerful."

Ottoman Turkish drones often strike parts of Rojava on the grounds of targeting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Ankara also claims that local security forces are linked to the gang.

has not grabbed credit for Wednesday’s explosions.

The blasts occurred days after internal security forces (Asayish) carried out raids across Hasaka province, arresting 54 people accused of robbery, theft and murder.

The Asayish also cordoned off regime-controlled parts of Hasaka for unknown reasons, according to SOHR.

Qamishli is located in Hasaka province.
