Amazon customers are rushing to buy a tiny two-bedroom house that costs less than a used Ford Focus | |

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A tiny home has appeared for sale on Amazon for less money than a standard car. The two-bedroom mobile home - with an open-plan living room and kitchen, and bathroom including a toilet and shower - costs $19,000. The pre-fabricated home, mostly made of metal, is framed by a cozy fenced-in porch with stairs leading up to the front door. It is also equipped with plumbing and electricity, as well as a water heater. The house, made by Emonia, comes with wind protection, fire protection, earthquake resistance, sun protection and rain and moisture resistance, according to the Amazon listing. The small home, costing less than a new Mitsubishi Mirage, may be a tempting option as home prices continue to hit all time highs. Around 64 percent of American adults own their own home, according to the Federal Reserve. This figure falls to 36 percent for those who make $50,000 a year or less. The current 30-year fixed mortgage rate is around 5.8 percent which can also present barriers to buying a more traditional home.

#5 I'd like a house like that. First I have to build a 6 car pole barn for all my non-domestic hobbies, toys and books. |

#4 I imagine putting this house on your lot and living in it has already been outlawed by building and occupancy laws all over the USA |

#3 Saw the ad from Amazon a few weeks back, making it look like a total win. Win, I says to myself, this is a giant L for the economy. Does wind protection include tornadoes? Out: trailer parks In: yuppie parks I keep pronouncing the company name as Ammonia? They made in Chyna? Can they do stacks like in Ready Player One? But yeah, still have to have a plot, and hook up to utilities, meet whatever local codes, and hope the local politicians don't see them as a threat to their local grift schemes. |

#2 They can make them cheaper but local politicians will make the price soar even if 'allowed' to be built. Did you know that Sears used to sell house in a kit? GenZers will ask "What is Sears". |

#1 All you need is a warehouse to put it up in, and you're ready to go. |
