[ColonelCassad] There are reports about cutting off the so-called "Ugledar balcony" and establishing control over Ugledar.

For the railway connection with Mariupol, a more distant rocade was built from the Donbas agglomeration through Kuteynikovo - Kichiksa (judging by satellite photos, it is still unfinished). The danger of the "balcony" was clearly high, and therefore the so-called "tsar-train" 32 km long was placed on the Volnovakha section of the railway, which additionally covered this threatened direction. Now, finally, there is an opportunity to unblock the line and use it for its intended purpose, after moving the front away from Ugledar. A powerful rocade = strengthening the stability of the front and confident communication with Mariupol.
For clarity, I put a map with the front line on 7.4.2024 - it clearly shows how dangerous the Ugledar balcony was in operational terms. The second map shows how this ledge prevented the use of a powerful Soviet double-track railway.

Ugledar disappears from the reports of the General Staff of the Ukrainian troops
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has stopped mentioning Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic in its reports from the front. This was reported on Wednesday, October 2, by the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua.
“The last time Ugledar was mentioned was in the morning report on October 1, where it was said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled attacks on the city,” the message on the Telegram channel says.
Previously, this settlement appeared in reports of battles in the Vremya direction.
After this, the General Staff reported that Russian troops were "unsuccessfully" attacking Bogoyavlenka. Ugledar was no longer mentioned.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian formations also acknowledged that the situation on the line of combat contact is difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and that the Russian military is superior in manpower and equipment.

Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirm their withdrawal from Ugledar
The Supreme Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has granted permission to withdraw Ukrainian units from Ugledar, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) due to problems with preserving personnel and military equipment. This was reported on October 2 by the official Telegram channel of the Ukrainian operational-strategic group of forces "Khortytsia".
The Ukrainian military admitted that the Russian Armed Forces sent troops to carry out flanking attacks that exhausted the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units. As a result, the city was threatened with being cordoned off.
Earlier, on October 2, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped mentioning Ugledar in their reports from the front. They also acknowledged that the situation on the combat contact line is difficult for the Ukrainian military, while the Russian Armed Forces outnumber the Armed Forces of Ukraine in manpower and equipment.
On the same day, the adviser to the head of the DPR, Yan Gagin, stated that at the moment it is too early to talk about the complete liberation of Ugledar from the Ukrainian Armed Forces; the Russian military is continuing the process of clearing the city.
The head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated a day earlier, on October 1, that the current situation on the front for the Ukrainian Armed Forces remains very, very difficult.
Chairman of the Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects and Veterans Support of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Vladimir Rogov said on the same day that the Russian army had liberated the southern, western and eastern parts of Ugledar. According to him, the enemy is in the north of the settlement and continues to be pushed out.
