[Regnum] Washington has declared war on freedom of speech by imposing sanctions against Russian media. This is stated in a commentary published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry by the official representative of the diplomatic agency Maria Zakharova.

"The steps taken by the United States went beyond restrictions as such and became a declaration of a full-scale war on freedom of speech as a phenomenon by Washington. Under far-fetched pretexts, the United States attacked both the media and personally media professionals, journalists, whose personal safety was put at risk," the diplomat noted.
The Foreign Ministry representative added that Russia regards the US sanctions as a “brazen attack” on the journalistic profession and a manifestation of disrespect for human dignity.
According to Zakharova, with the help of restrictions the US is trying to usurp the right to truth, depriving the world community of free access to information.
