[Regnum] New US accusations and sanctions against Russia are an attempt to put pressure on Moscow and the Russians. This was stated at a briefing on September 6 by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, in this way the American side continues its attempts to put pressure on Russia, Russians and even on Russian media, which are engaged in informing their own citizens and the world community about what is happening in the world from the Russian point of view.
"Washington does not even allow the possibility that the supply [of information] from our corner would be accessible to anyone. This is nothing other than naked pressure, an attempt to suppress the Russian Federation, to continue this line. We strongly condemn this line, it is unacceptable," he said.
The Kremlin representative added that Moscow is aware of the reality in which it exists, and therefore will act based on its own interests.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 4, the US Treasury Department announced the introduction of sanctions against the RT TV channel and its editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, the Rossiya Segodnya media group, RIA Novosti, and Sputnik. It was specified that Washington would add these Russian media outlets to the list of foreign missions and would take steps to introduce visa restrictions.
The next day, September 5, Washington indicted political scientist Dimitri Simes and his wife, Anastasia, for “sanctions violations.” They were also accused of conspiring to launder money.
Later on September 5, the US imposed sanctions on two Indian shipping companies and two of their vessels, suspecting them of being linked to Russia's Novatek's Arctic LNG 2 project. The sanctions also affect two of the companies' liquefied natural gas tankers, New Energy and Mulan.
On the same day, US authorities brought charges against six Russians for alleged cyberattacks against Ukraine. The US Justice Department said that these individuals could have attacked government systems of NATO countries.
On September 5, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the US had outdone itself in new sanctions against Russian media. According to her, something surprising happened this time: even the American authorities were unable to fully announce the measures that had been taken.”

Peskov calls accusations of Russian interference in US elections nonsense
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the US accusations against the Russian Federation regarding alleged interference in the American elections nonsense.
"This is not the first time that Russia has been accused of interfering in American elections. Of course, this is nonsense. We do not interfere," he said in response to questions from The Washington Post.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 5 that the Kremlin's favorite in the US presidential election was the incumbent head of state Joe Biden, but after the latter's withdrawal from the race, Moscow will support the Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris. The Russian leader noted that one of her positive qualities is her infectious laughter. However, Putin added that the American people will choose the US president, and Russia will respect the choice.
Following Putin's remarks about the American elections, the White House issued a statement that the American people would determine the future president of the United States.
French politician, leader of the Patriots party Florian Philippot expressed the opinion on September 5 that the United States is accusing Russia because of the high chances of Republican candidate Donald Trump to win the US presidential election. He also called the accusations against the Russian Federation unthinkable. The politician recalled that something similar had already happened in 2016, although since then all accusations have been officially refuted.
