2024-09-04 |
Pakistan’s ISI cultivated jihadis pretty much since Pakistan's founding as a deniable instrument of state. Now they’re paying the price, poor darlings. [KhaamaPress] Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) reported an increase in terrorist attacks across Pakistain in August compared to the previous month, with 84 individuals killed as a result of these attacks. The institute, in its report released on Tuesday, September 3rd, stated that at least 166 others were maimed in terrorist attacks throughout Pakistain. According to the report, 29 attacks occurred in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 28 in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , and two others in Punjab 1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard 2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers 3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots.... during the past month. The Institute emphasized that during the past two months, 23 military operations aimed at clearing Lions of Islam have been conducted across Pakistain, resulting in at least 88 Lions of Islam and 18 security personnel killed in these operations. The institute noted that most of these attacks were carried out by krazed killer groups such as the "Baloch Liberation Army," "Tehrik-e-Taliban ![]() students... Pakistain," "ISIS Khorasan," Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It was headed by a former bus driver and eventually folded into the TTP... , and the group "Hafiz Gul Bahadur ...a member of the Madda Khel clan of the Uthmanzai Waziris. Educated in a Deobandi madrassa located in Multan, he is affiliated with the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) political party. Upon the formation of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in December 2007, he was announced as the group's overall naib amir under Baitullah Mehsud, who was based in South Wazoo, but has largely distanced himself from the TTP due to rivalries with the Mehsuds and disagreements about the TTP's attacks against the Pak state.. " in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. It urged Islamabad to develop an effective "anti-terrorism" strategy and enhance border security with Afghanistan and Iran. Earlier, the Institute had stated that nearly a thousand military and non-combatants were killed in "terrorist" attacks across the country in 2023. These developments underscore the ongoing challenge of terrorism in Pakistain, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to combat extremism and ensure national security. |

#1 Reporting from Karachi, Pakistan June 12, 2024 The terrifying stories are sprawled across local newspapers and recounted in hushed tones at tea stalls and bus stands: another day, another brutal death during an armed robbery in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city. Last Wednesday, a car mechanic was shot dead by muggers trying to steal his phone. The day before, robbers in two separate incidents killed a secondhand shoe seller who refused to hand over his phone and a businessman who had just withdrawn cash from a bank. A few days earlier, robbers killed a 27-year-old mechanical engineer, stealing his phone, cash and motorcycle. Across Karachi, Pakistan’s economic powerhouse, the rate of violent crime has soared. That has created a sense that no place is safe in this metropolis of 20 million people, and led many to worry that the city is returning to its violent, chaotic past. The country’s president, Asif Ali Zardari, has called for a “large-scale operation” against the street criminals. “The fear of mugging hangs over you every time you step outside,” said Shamim Ali, 43, a factory worker who said he was mugged twice in recent months. “Criminals operate with brazenness in broad daylight.” The number of reported homicides, extortion attempts and motorcycle thefts has nearly doubled this year compared with the same period last year, according to the government-backed Citizen-Police Liaison Committee. At least 58 people were killed in muggings in the first five months of 2024, nearly double the number in that period in 2023, police records show. Rights activists say the true toll of violent crime is most likely higher, as many victims are hesitant to report cases. |
