[Regnum] The Russian Navy has accepted a new small missile ship of Project 22 800 "Amur",the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported on August 26.
The ceremonial reception of the ship and the raising of the St. Andrew's flag took place under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, in Kaspiysk.
"The Karakurt-class ships, designed by engineers from the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, embody the power of strike weapons and high seaworthiness. They will make a significant contribution to strengthening combat readiness, operating as part of the surface component of the Navy," Moiseyev said.
The Navy Commander-in-Chief also noted that the program to equip the fleet with ships carrying high-precision weapons (the Amur is capable of carrying Kalibr-NK cruise missiles) will continue.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier in August, Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko reported that the strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine cruiser Knyaz Pozharsky was undergoing factory sea trials. The submarines of this project are armed with 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles and six torpedo tubes.
The Russian Navy will receive 12 surface ships and four submarines in 2024, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov said in January. He noted that the fleet receives a new vessel almost every month, while the level of import substitution in their construction is 100%, and sanctions cannot interfere with the work.
