[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan![]() 's military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on Tuesday ordered the Sovereignty Council to take control of the country's border crossings, a move aimed at streamlining humanitarian aid ![]() The decision comes as Sudan prepares to open several border crossings to facilitate the flow of aid to those affected by the fighting. al-Burhan recently approved the opening of the Adr crossing with Chad to address the dire humanitarian situation in Darfur. A statement from the Sovereignty Council said the move was intended to ''facilitate procedures across border crossings, ensure smooth commercial movement and speed up the clearance of goods.'' Currently, Sudan's land and sea crossings are overseen by the Ministry of Transport. The country shares borders with the Central African Republic, Egypt, South Sudan, Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... , Æthiopia, Libya and Chad. #1 There is only one problem, the central Government does not control that border crossing. What it is implying is that it will cease its bombing and allow aid from Chad/Libya to reach the surrounded El Fasher which has yet to fall to the rebels. |
