“Since the beginning of the year, 110 terrorist attacks have been prevented, in the preparation of which citizens recruited by the enemy participated,” the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) quoted Bortnikov as saying.
At the same time, according to the FSB director, more than 1,050 people were detained for preparing and committing terrorist crimes, justifying and promoting terrorism, financing terrorists and providing them with assistance.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed aspects of the fight against terrorism at a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council. After that, the FSB director made a report.
On April 24, the Russian Security Council held the 12th International Meeting of High Representatives in charge of security issues in St. Petersburg. Addressing its participants, Putin called terrorism one of the most serious threats of the 21st century.
The President stated that terrorist attacks are often carried out not only by radical groups, but also by the special services of some countries. Using terrorists, they try to destabilize the situation in countries and incite interethnic and interreligious strife.

45 terrorist cells have been identified in Russia since the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of 2024, 45 cells of international terrorist organizations (ITOs) have been identified in Russia that recruited residents of the North Caucasus and migrants from Central Asia. This was reported on August 13 by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC).
“The coordinated actions of security forces have stopped the activities of forty-five covert MTO cells this year,” the NAC reported.
