[KavkazUzel] Daud Davydov, who was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2022 for beating prisoners at the Makhachkala pretrial detention center and extortion, disappeared in the military operation zone in Ukraine.
As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, on February 7, 2023, the court sentenced the former head of the Makhachkala pre-trial detention center Daud Davydov to eight years in prison, two of his subordinates received 5.5 years in prison in the case of beating prisoners and extorting money and property worth 9 million rubles.
The security officials did not admit guilt in torture and extortion. In November of the same year, the Supreme Court of Dagestan upheld the sentence of Davydov and his subordinates. In the spring of 2022, pre-trial detention center inspector Magomed Saliev received 3.5 years in prison, whom the court found guilty of abuse of power and receiving a large bribe. Saliev fully admitted his guilt and entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation. Several episodes in which he appeared were also incriminated to Davydov and his subordinates. According to the prosecution, from December 2015 to June 2019, security forces repeatedly used physical violence against the arrested man and forced him to re-register his ownership of a land plot, buildings, and an apartment worth more than 5 million rubles. They also received bribes totaling 150,000 rubles from the arrested man's wife and 300,000 rubles from a local resident to improve the conditions of his father's detention, and in February 2019, in collusion with the convicted man, they stole 3.2 million rubles from the arrested man, investigators found out.
The convicted former head of Makhachkala's SIZO-1, Daud Davydov, has gone missing in action in the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine, the chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev, reported today.
According to him, Davydov commanded a unit on the front line and went missing two months ago.
