[Regnum] The celebration of Navy Day in Saint Petersburg ended with a festive fireworks display. A ceremonial artillery fireworks display was launched from the Bolshoi Beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
According to the bright tradition of Navy Day in the Northern capital, the Rostral Columns were lit again at 21:00 Moscow time. The torches were lit for the first time at 10:00 Moscow time. The festive fireworks, marking the end of the celebration, began at 22:30 Moscow time.
As reported by the press service of the Leningrad Military District, cadets of the Mikhailovskaya Red Banner, Order of Lenin and Order of Zhukov Military Artillery Academy fired 30 salutes.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, Navy Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of July. The main naval parade was held in St. Petersburg, which was hosted by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin. The head of state noted the sailors' special attitude to the Motherland, their dedication and unyielding character, loyalty to the oath, their word and the naval brotherhood.
Vladimir Putin also unveiled a monument to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, located in front of the Central Naval Museum in the Northern capital.
Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov congratulated servicemen and veterans on Navy Day. He emphasized that the personnel of the Russian Navy successfully fulfill the tasks set within the framework of the special military operation and ensure reliable protection of the country's national interests.
