[JPost] Smack-talk from a bankrupt pretend caliphate Jerusalem and Ankara traded sharp barbs on Sunday, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan seeming to threaten military action against Israel on Sundays as tensions heated up between the Jewish state and the Iranian proxy group Hezbollah. Israel in turn warned that his fate could become akin to that of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, who was executed by hanging. “Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein by threatening to attack Israel. He should remember what happened there and how it ended,’ Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, in which he linked a photograph of the two men. |

#8 Turkey chose the losing side in World War I, so they would have lost their empire even if it weren’t already crumbling around them. Had the allies not divided the Turkish rump state from the rest of the empire, Ataturk would never have been able to establish a modern republic, one which has lasted a century, though probably not much longer. |
