Will we be the North Korea of Europe?
2024-07-13
[ConservativeWoman] AS THE world has around 190 countries, it provides us with many examples of which political and economic systems result in peace, freedom and prosperity and which burden their people with enslavement, backwardness and poverty. Perhaps the best example of how one country becomes wealthy while a neighbour becomes a basket case is in the two Koreas. They have similar geographies, similar natural resources and similar people. Yet South Korea has produced growth, economic success and wealth, while the North has produced only misery, famine, malnutrition and impoverishment:

We can see a similar situation in the Middle East where democratic Israel has flourished while many of its neighbors have not exactly had the same success:

Perhaps the real reason Israel’s Arab neighbors desperately want its destruction is the fact that Israel’s success shows up the failure of many Arab leaders.

...That brings us to Sir Keir Starmer’s Britain. Sir Keir has promised us economic growth. But there’s a bit of a problem. Britain already has some of the world’s highest energy prices:

Economics 101 will teach you that you cannot have economic growth with some of the world’s highest energy prices as high energy costs obviously make your industries uncompetitive. Moreover, the more a country relies on expensive and unreliable wind and solar for its energy, the higher its energy prices. And with Ed Miliband’s rush to wreck Britain’s North Sea oil and gas industry and blight our lives with hundreds of useless wind turbines and solar farms, Britain’s energy prices are bound to rise even further.

So we are in a crazy new world in which our government will be furiously pushing policies to stimulate economic growth while just as furiously doing everything it can under the banner of Net Zero to destroy any chance of economic growth.

The rest of Europe seems to be waking up to the insanity of imposing Net Zero in trying to solve a climate crisis which doesn’t even exist. Across Europe, Net Zero pledges are being gradually watered down and even abandoned. For example Germany, having made the ludicrous mistake of closing much of its nuclear industry after the Japan Fukushima disaster because Mrs Merkel didn’t realise there aren’t any tsunamis in the almost land-locked country, is reopening coal mines. But here in Britain under Starmer/Miliband, our government is doubling down on wrecking our economy in order to become a supposed ’clean energy superpower’.

We’ve already lost much of our manufacturing and oil refining. Our chemicals industry looks like being the next headed for annihilation. Some car manufacturers are threatening to close down their UK operations. After that, there won’t be much left. Though Starmer/Miliband, cheered on by the climate-catastrophist BBC and scientifically-challenged mainstream media, will be able to claim that Britain is ’leading the world in cutting its CO2 emissions’.

It’s a pity that, while doing this, Britain will be leading the world in committing economic suicide as we become the North Korea of Europe.
