Hunter Smokes Massive Bear With Pistol |

![]() Generally speaking, you need some serious firepower to take down a bear due to its massive size, strength and muscle makeup. You don't want to find yourself in a showdown with a bear and be unarmed or only have a small pistol. However, in a pinch, you have to work with what you have, and that's what happened to a hunter in Alaska. (More info and pictures of the bear in question at the link, just so you know, the guy used a 10mm pistol to put down the bear!) |

#8 10 mm Auto is currently the preferred bear handgun. A Glock 20 will hold 15+1 10 mm rounds which are roughly equivalent to the .41 Magnum. More rounds, less recoil and easier to shoot compared to the .44 Magnum and bigger revolvers. |
