John Deere announces mass layoffs in Midwest amid production shift to Mexico |
2024-07-07 |
[FOX] John Deere, the world’s largest seller of tractors and crop harvesters, on Friday announced another wave of layoffs, telling around 610 production staff at plants in Illinois and Iowa that they will be out of a job by the end of the summer. The company is slashing around 280 workers from a plant in East Moline, Illinois, while another 230 employees are being let go at a factory in Davenport, Iowa. About 100 production employees at the company’s Dubuque, Iowa, plant will also be impacted. All layoffs are said to be effective from Aug. 30, the company tells FOX Business. The layoffs are being made due to reduced demand for John Deere's products from those factories. The company says it generated $10.166 billion in profits last year. |

#15 Do we have a deal ? Look for subsidies from Mexico to build new facilities and transport inventory. Clinton's NAFTA/cartel money laundering at it's best. |

#10 Hopefully there's a Japanese tractor company out there to replace the Deere shiite. Japs will build US factories, hire US workers and sell a quality product made in the USA. |

#5 Wonder if they factored in the cost of corruption, protection money, the feather bedding of non-productive members of the ruling caste, and, of course, ransom money for executives and their family members into their bottom line. |

#4 Simply put, The USA with all of its taxes on top of taxes and Eco lawyers always seeking $$$$ for something. The USA is not their best ROI business nation anymore. Besides, with their NAFTA move to Mexico to reduce operating issues (Labor/Fed Reg/Taxes) & costs. It stands to reason they'd, just like the Auto industry, would start dumping US workers as they move. |
