Moscow, June 18, 2024, 06:27 - IA Regnum. Ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet (PF) will take part in exercises in the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk from June 18 to 28. This was reported by the Pacific Fleet press service.
In 2024, maneuvers will take on a bilateral format for the first time. As part of the exercises, the sailors will practice anti-submarine operations, organize all types of defense of ship detachments during sea passage, launch joint missile strikes against naval groups of a mock enemy, conduct training to repel attacks by UAVs and UAVs, and also perform a set of practical combat training exercises.
In total, about 40 ships, boats and support vessels, about 20 airplanes and helicopters of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet were involved, including long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142MZ, Il-38 and Il-38N, Ka-29 and Ka-27 helicopters in anti-submarine and search and rescue options.
In addition, units of the Pacific Fleet Marine Corps and combat crews of the Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems are participating in the maneuvers.
As Regnum reported, earlier in June, Russian and Egyptian warships conducted joint exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. During the maneuvers, we worked out the formation of a detachment of warships in the designated area, conducted communications training and provided flights of deck-based helicopters. The frigate Al-Qadir participated from Egypt. The joint training at the Pacific Fleet was called the next practical step in strengthening Russian-Egyptian naval cooperation.
At the beginning of June, the Russian and Syrian militaries practiced exercises during which they repelled enemy attacks on the Tartus base. It is noted that the crews of the Pantsir-S air defense system, together with the crews of the anti-sabotage boat of the Black Sea Fleet "Cadet" and small missile boats of the Syrian Navy, destroyed naval drones of a mock enemy that were trying to break into the internal roadstead of the port.

In Yakutsk, during a meeting with specialists who had decided to move to work in the Far East, Putin recalled that one such enterprise had already been built near Vladivostok.
“Our shipbuilding cluster is actively developing. We just discussed with the leadership of the United Shipbuilding Corporation what to build and where - after all, they have a need to create new enterprises. We came to the conclusion that the next enterprise, just as it was created near Vladivostok, we will all create another one in the Far East,” the president said.
As reported by IA Regnum, on March 14, at a meeting with members of the government, the president said that the eastern regions of the country should be a priority when choosing a location for the construction of new shipyards. It is more expedient to build shipyards in the east in order to link this with territorial development and the convenience of producing relevant equipment, the head of state said.
On February 29, delivering a message to the Federal Assembly, Putin announced plans to significantly update the merchant fleet based on domestic shipyards. New tankers, gas carriers and container ships will make it possible to build efficient trade flows in the context of changing logistics and fundamental changes in the global economy, the president said.
He also announced an increase in cargo turnover at Russia's northern ports, including the Murmansk transport hub, provision of year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route, as well as an increase in the Arctic fleet. Putin invited foreign logistics companies to use the Northern Sea Route for transportation.
