[Regnum] Russia needs a full settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, not its freezing. President Vladimir Putin announced this on June 14during a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The President noted that in order to launch the negotiation process, Kyiv must agree to the conditions proposed by Russia for resolving the conflict.
“I’ll emphasize the main thing. The essence of our proposal is not some kind of temporary truce or suspension of fire, as the West wants, in order to restore losses, rearm the Kiev regime, and prepare it for a new offensive. I repeat, this is not about freezing the conflict, but about its final end,” he said.
The head of state clarified that the Russian side is ready for dialogue with other countries on a settlement in Ukraine, but this should be a serious, thorough and substantive conversation, and not an imitation of it.
As Regnum reported, Putin called on the West and Kiev to accept Russia’s new peace proposal for Ukraine. The head of state stressed that otherwise they would be responsible for prolonging the bloodshed.
Before this, the president noted that Russia is ready to begin negotiations if the Ukrainian Armed Forces completely withdraw fighters from the territory of the DPR and LPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Putin also noted that the Russian Armed Forces will stop firing as soon as Kyiv begins to comply with this requirement and officially declares its refusal to join NATO.
