[Regnum] The US authorities have introduced a ban on the provision of IT and software services in Russia, according to a document issued by the country's Ministry of Finance.
“The Treasury Department has taken steps to limit the Russian military industrial base's access to certain information technology software and services,” the document notes.
The new definition prohibits the provision of IT consulting and design services to any person in Russia, as well as cloud services for software that allows enterprise management or design and production.
It is noted that the definition will come into force on September 12, 2024.
As Regnum reported, on June 12, the United States introduced new sanctions against Russia. They will apply to seven Russian vessels for transporting liquefied natural gas. The companies "Arctic LNG - 1" and "Arctic LNG - 3", Kazan Experimental Design Bureau, Radio Engineering Concern "Vega", NPO "Poisk", JSC "Rusgazdobycha" were also sanctioned. The United States blacklisted the First Movement. In total, over 30 individuals and more than 200 entities from Russia and China were included in the US sanctions list.
Also on June 12, it was reported that Washington intends to impose sanctions against a number of Chinese companies allegedly supplying semiconductor chips to Russia. According to Bloomberg, at least eight companies from Hong Kong will be subject to new US restrictions.
In early May, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western sanctions had brought the opposite result and the Russian economy was growing. The head of state emphasized that the West tried to destroy the Russian economy from the inside, which would lead to unemployment and the closure of enterprises, but these plans were not crowned with success.
